With the change of head coach from Paulo Fonseca to Sergio Conceicao, there could also be alterations to the transfer plans for January and beyond.
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) recall, the Milan coach said in his first press conference that he first wants to get to know all the available players. Once the introductions have been made, the new coach will indicate to the club how and where it would be appropriate to intervene.
The first news could concern a potential sale. Fikayo Tomori ended up on the fringes under Fonseca, and rumours had been circulating suggesting that Juventus are keen on signing him given their lack of depth at centre-back.
With the arrival of Conceicao, however, every player has a clean slate. Tomori wants to get back into the starting line-up and the early indications are that the Portuguese holds the Englishman in high esteem despite a difficult season so far.
During his time at Porto, Conceicao often used a 4-4-2 system with two strikers. For this reason, Randal Kolo Muani is a name to monitor, a player that Milan have been linked with several times in the past and who is totally on the fringes of Luis Enrique’s PSG team.
Here the problem is that there is no time to waste: since his situation in Paris is known, the competition is strong with several Premier League teams, plus Juve and Bayern Munich. The idea is a loan but a lot depends on the salary issue, given he earns a high amount.
Milan must evaluate how Ismael Bennacer is, and in the meantime Samuele Ricci trail continues to be monitored. He was initially planned as an investment for the summer but it could be brought forward, with Warren Bondo of Monza the alternative.
We need Ricci some Italian in the team.
So help me understand you do you want some Italian or good players that can win? We need good players, and if it happens to be Italian then perfect. Protectionism doesnt help anyone. Serie A got ruined the moment they put a cap on foreigners in the team, at the same time Italy never produced iconic Italian llayers they used to any longer.
Only free competition guarantees you success. That is why other leagues have overtaken Serie A, you should never forece something just because they are Italians, Germans, French and so on
We can’t register players… now explain how unregistable foreigner is better than Italian?
Exactly 💯
For some reason half the forum has forgotten uefa squad list requires academy / league homegrown players.
Even if they are worse, you need some local players you can’t replace the 4 + 4 quota with ineligible foreigners.
(And imho Ricci is NOT worse, he’d be far superior to Musah or RLC as a midfield option)
I honestly don’t understand this managment with their “monitoring” and “evaluation” phase. So they are monitoring a player while transfer window is running? Where were you from August to January and what were you doing? As much as Ibra is bragging that they are working silent and under the radar is BS. Lets just take example of Zirkzze or Thuram. And thats just off the top.(not to mention Ibra’s words on Fonseca)I honestly think the biggest problem is in Ibra, Moncada and Furlani, and the fact Cardinale is trusting them blindly. What qualifications does Ibra poses to dictate a way our club is going? We can see on our situation. Almost 100mil spent and sitting in 8th place, 14 points behind Atalanta. So you can chamge coaches as quick as you want, but the problem lies in another nest.
Yes, Cardinal would be seen to be over reliant on Furlani, Moncada and Ibra, depending how n their football IQ (we all know they have very little), but JFK’s punchline “you can’t fool all the people all of the time!”, will eventually run true and I believe Sergio C will expedite that because he actually has football IQ.
It’s the waiting that is frustrating!!
if we opt for 442 then we lack strikers but will have surplus mids i.e. Fofana and Tijani + Bennacer for 2 roles. Leao & Pulisic to operate out wide. Not unless he used them up front with Morata as a quasi 4411 formation. Tomori will also get a second chance instead of us selling him to a direct rivals.
Muani is good target, so is Rashford if Conceicao can rebuild his confidence.
Leao isn’t the LM type of guy, Pulisic and Chukwueze should be fine though.
Leao even under Fonseca played that CF/ST role when we were 4-4-2 in the defensive phase… Tiji covered the LM role. It also makes sense cause Conceicao wingers are more of CAM. Liberalli can be his understudy.
Ricci just extended with Torino until 2028.
They should buy Guirassy when they had a chance for 17.5million ffs.
They have/had doubts about his fitness. He has a history of long-term injuries.
There’s no ‘clean slate’. Conceicao knows Tomori isn’t good enough and we need Italians so he’s probably going to be sold. Pavlovic will get a chance.
Kolo Muani? His goalscoring record is a disgrace, how does he solve the striker problem? He doesn’t.
Ricci probably isn’t going to arrive in January.
I hear you on the goalscoring record, and he’s high salary so I’m not enthused by it but… a loan deal we could see if he adapts or not so it might be a smart move.
Because, some link forwards can unlock the goalscorers around them. I’m thinking Firmino at Lpool, he wasn’t prolific but he unlocked Mane+ Salah
With our side, I see our real threats as Leao/Reijnders/Pulisic. So a lethal no.9 might not be needed, if we can find a good forward who can provide chances for our key players. I thought Morata might offer that as he’s known to be unselfish, make runs into the channel etc but so far he hasnt quite delivered but was cheap.
Perhaps RKM will be that guy, or Zirkzee on loan? Remember our management don’t like to spend so we can’t dream of Osimhen / Gyokeres /Isak etc they’re out of our price range.
Forza Milan
Why do you give a damn what his salary is? Good players make money, Milan supporters have unfortunately forgotten that over the years and that’s fine. With owners like Elliot/RedBird basically running a scam under your noses it’s not real surprising you all get caught up on the wrong things.
Field day for the media. Million names linked with Milan and we all know we ain’t getting none of them.
Some 5M nobody is the norm
I rather Milan must fast for transfer windows, use issue lik Olmo it can be best recruit cause He can free from barca, Ricci its good target. If Milan want get new player must sell some player like origi, jovic.
If want invest young player Milan must patient n they need minutes playing. CDK, Simic, Kerkez, Nastri, Colombo they are some young player that Milan not optimized their talent.
