A French journalist has suggested that Jean Onana might not yet be ready to make the big jump from Bordeaux to AC Milan this summer.
It is being reported by Sky (via MilanNews) that today could be very important for the outcome of the negotiations over Onana, who now seems to be the number one midfield target for Milan despite the links with countless other targets.
They added that the entourage of the 22-year-old will be in France to try definitively close the operation with Milan looking at either a loan with option deal or an outright purchase for €5-6m.
Johann Crochet – a correspondent at RMC Sport – spoke to MilanNews to give his thoughts on Onana’s development and in particular regarding the possibility that he could become Milan’s latest summer signing.
Is Onana the right profile for the Rossoneri?
“We are certainly talking about a midfielder with great physicality and we know that Milan love these characteristics especially in the nerve center of the pitch. However, despite so many examples that go in this sense, I am a bit surprised.”
In what way?
“I don’t know if Onana is ready to make such a leap from a reality like Bordeaux to one like Milan that wants to excel in Italy and do well in Europe too. He will have to be good at showing that he is worth the interest of the Rossoneri.”
Could it be an operation along the lines of the one that already took place involving Yacine Adli?
“Adli was more ready and mentally more mature. As a package, in experience he was better placed and also on a technical level the experts had already foreseen such a leap for him.”
Will the good relations between the clubs affect things?
“Definitely yes, now it will be up to the boy should the move take place to fight for his place.”
Who would you say is the right target for Milan?
“Raphael Onyedika of Midtjylland I would have thought as being more ready for the arrival at Milanello. It is also probable that Onana is a sort of Plan B as often happens on these occasions.”
I don’t think this Plan B mate, pretty sure we’re at plan E or F by now!
