CM: Roma work undercover to beat Milan and Napoli to signing of Lyon midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

It seems as though AC Milan have missed out on the signing of Houssem Aouar as he looks set to sign for Roma, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com write how Aouar had been in the sights of the Giallorossi for some time who – as well as Milan and Napoli’s – and they have been working undercover to sign him on a free given his deal with Lyon runs out in June.

On Monday morning, the Lyon midfielder landed with an intermediary in Rome to undergo medical examinations at the BioMedico Campus accompanied by an employee of the Giallorossi.

After a few hours, around half past one in the morning, Aouar left for Lyon where he will stay until the end of the season. Given his expiring deal, Aouar was free to sign with a club abroad from 1 January onwards.

Roma tried for the 25-year-old in the last two transfer windows but waited for the right moment to pounce, beating Milan and Napoli. His salary should be around €2.8m net per season plus bonuses.
