There has been a development regarding the future of Alexis Saelemaekers after talks between AC Milan and Roma, it is claimed.
Saelemaekers joined Roma on a season-long dry loan as part of a swap that saw Tammy Abraham arrive at Milan via the same formula. That means negotiations are needed if one or both are to move permanently.
Igli Tare has just stepped in as the new sporting director for the Rossoneri, and it was reported on Monday night that he had met his Roma counterpart Florent Ghisolfi to discuss the futures of both players.
Saelemaekers to remain at Milan?
Di Marzio is reporting that there was no white smoke from that meeting: Roma have no agreement with Milan for Saelemaekers. Not only that, but he adds that ‘the Rossoneri would like to keep him’.
It is perhaps no surprise that the Giallorossi want to explore signing the Belgian permanently. He had a fantastic second half of the season under Claudio Ranieri, playing mostly as a right wing-back in a 3-4-2-1 system.
In Serie A, the former Anderlecht man racked up seven goals and three assists in 23 games played. However, the player is owned by Milan, who would ‘like to keep him’ in their squad for next season at present.
Roma now must formulate an offer to convince the Rossoneri to let him go, but for now they are blocking the deal. The capital club will have to satisfy Milan’s demands, otherwise they won’t proceed.

Imagine had he hustled stayed?
It would’ve saved about 5 pointless transfers.
Now what is he?
Is he a Roma player or a Milan player?
It’s just a mess. Another pointless mess.
imagine shutting up for the first time in your life
you want Milan to just insantly give a discount to Roma and sell him off, are you stupid?
Disagree with the guy 99% of the time but no need to get aggressive. He never said anything about discount. Think he wanted us to keep him in the first place and not signed chuck. Which would probably have been better. But its easy to judge in hindsight
Based on your response seeing you completely misunderstood his point, you’re the one with great lack of intelligence or common sense. A great lack.
If we plan to keep the 3-4-3 formation into next season then he’d be ideal for that role. And if Tare’s goal is to get players who sweat for the shirt, he won’t find a better option.
That said, how many right-backs do we have under contract now?
Agree – bring him home..
I don’t believe they want to keep him. I think there are Premier League clubs interested in him and willing to pay up hence why they want him back.
Myself, I’d love to keep the lad whether they play wings or wingbacks, he’s versatile enough to perform anywhere. Has energy and grinta.
He’s a decent back up and/or a rotation option. I’d keep him.
Sealemakers, Adli and Pobega would have helped Milan to be in CL if they did not move. They have been much better than Fofana, Emerson Royal and Walker who were bought for so much money!
Adli is too slow, Pobega is even slower. Zeroli and Maldini would have been more useful.
Not a problem! I heard the Dinosaur Allegri is coming back. He loves very slow player.
It’s not a coincidence that our players perform better away from the club.
This goes to show there’s something fundamentally wrong at the club, it has been a long term occurrence.
Bring in Messi and Ronaldo, they will become like average players with us over time, until the fundamental issues are resolved internally, we cannot get a headway.
Pioli showed it, even under Conceicao, the squad showed like in the derby that we have really good players. We have to start with proper physical, medical and fitness drills before we can talk about tactics.
De Laurentiis in his praise of Conte highlighted this, that tactics are useless when the team is well prepared.
spot on!
If we end up keeping Conceicao cause:
a) Tare likes him and
b) we cant find any other decent coaches
I think Saelesmaekers fit perfectly in his 3-4-2-1 system (as shown in Roma). Him and Jimenez would be best choices on the right side, with Theo and Bartesaghi to the left.
Walker would be better as one of the center backs to the right (instead of Tomori). Then Gabbia/ Thiaw in the middle and Pavlovic/Bartesaghi to the left. Wouldnt have to buy and integrate any new defenders unless we sell Tomori (then Comuzzo would be a good addidition).
Milan will keep him coz Theo will leave. Logically choice, no added money and can make slim your wage budget. No champion league next season. Save your money bro
