Romagnoli’s injury could be a sliding doors moment for Milan as Kalulu shines

By Isak Möller -

In the last three games, Pierre Kalulu has been a very important player for AC Milan, showing that he deserves a spot in the starting XI for the remainder of the season. Something, however, which wasn’t according to plan.

The defender helped keep Victor Osimhem quiet in the game against Napoli and he also scored the winner for the Rossoneri last night against Empoli. In addition, he helped Milan keep a clean sheet in the derby against Inter, which was when it all changed for him.

Alessio Romagnoli was forced to leave the derby early with an injury and that’s why Kalulu came on in the first place. Milan’s captain was back in the squad for yesterday’s clash but the Frenchman got the nod again, thanks to his recent performances.

For the Rossoneri, Romagnoli’s injury could turn out to be a sliding doors moment for the Scudetto. Had it not been for the injury, then perhaps Kalulu wouldn’t have played as much and that perhaps would have had negative consequences.

  1. What more do you have to prove to know this kid has it. And that he’s a better CB (regardless if he likes RB better). He has bested Osimhen, been strong v Lautaro and Dzeko, and other top Serie A attackers. Do we still think he’s not good enough to start?? Come on guys you have a gem here, don’t waste money on a spot you have a genuine brilliant defender already at who will only get better with time and more muscle development. Maybe I’m too high on Kalulu but I’ve known there was a special player in there mature beyond his years from day 1.

    1. I am 100% agree. And this is the reason, I think spending big money on Botman is a mistake, when we have problem in other positions.
A game winner RW, CAM (Chalhan replacement from last summer!), and CM (Kessie replacement), and also a fresh ST. This positions are more needed than a new CB.

  2. I also remember one of the matches against Porto in Champions League where Milan’s playing was so dull and Kalulu was the best of the team; actually, if I remember correctly he had to play on the right that night?? Anyway, I remember most of the players being so sloppy and nervous and Kalulu playing so calm and tight!

  3. Kalulu is our Scudetto key.
1)he has more pace to compliment Tomori.
2)He plays with more intensity than Romagnoli.
3)Tomori is better playing as LCB than RCB which Kjaer/Kalulu are comfortable playing
    4) Good bye to Romagnoli’s errors.
