Romagnoli reflects on his time at Milan: “It was right to join them”

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli left AC Milan at the end of his contract in June and thus said goodbye after seven years at the club. The defender has now signed for his boyhood club Lazio, but he’s still very grateful to the Rossoneri.

In the summer of 2015, Sinisa Mihajlovic managed to convince both Adriano Galliani and Silvo Berlusconi to pay €25m for Romagnoli to Roma. The youngster impressed during a loan spell at Sampdoria and thus earned the move to the Rossoneri.

During his seven-year spell at the club, there were many ups and downs both for the team and him personally. He always remained professional, though, and managed to win over the appreciation of the fans thanks to his hard work.

Speaking to Lazio Style Channel, as cited by The Laziali, Romagnoli shared his thoughts on the adventure at Milan. He made it clear that he doesn’t regret joining the San Siro side, even though he always wanted to join Lazio.

“For the good of my career, it was right to join Milan, the team was strong, the club was growing and I saw that we could win something.

“Every time I played against Lazio, though, I spoke to Tare. ‘Two years’, ‘One year’ then ‘Six months’, when we played in the Coppa Italia. I always wished for this idea to become reality,” he stated.
