Romagnoli talks about 2020, his renewal and the Milan fans: “A big thank you to them”

Along with the rest of his teammates, Alessio Romagnoli put in a hard-working performance against Lazio. The captain did well to lead his team from the back and got a good rating in our player ratings

The Rossoneri started the game well, taking an early 2-0 lead, but eventually lost it as Lazio equalised in the second half. Fortunately, Theo Hernandez came up big with his last-minute header, sealing the three points for his side.

As Inter won earlier this evening, the win means Milan are still at the top of the standings, ten points ahead of Juventus. The Nerazzurri are just one point behind and it will be very interesting to follow the second half of the season.

After the game, Romagnoli was interviewed by Sky Italia (via MilanNews) about the game and the Christmas celebrations that await. The players have done incredible things this year and the captain is at the heart of this.

On the best Christmas at Milan…

“The other Christmases have been a bit more suffering, but many things have changed since last year.”

On the group…

“The signings that arrived in January have given us a big hand, game after game we have acquired more and more awareness.”

On the objectives…

“Every match must be played, there are many strong teams. We are a young team with many ideas, the important thing is to continue like this and improve.”

On Pioli…

“From the start, the coach was very good at leveraging the group. We were a bit separated, let’s say, he was very good at bringing everyone together, then the results arrived.”

On the parade of the supporters…

“The fans are our strength even if they cannot enter the stadium. A big thank you to them, we hope to be able to get them back to the stadium as soon as possible.”

On the future…

“I hope to do another 200 with Milan. The renewal? You have to ask the management, I have a contract until 2022, it’s still long, we’ll see.”
