Romano: €10m plus Saelemaekers – Milan and Roma close in on exchange agreement

AC Milan and Roma seem to be taking steps forward in the talks over a deal which will see Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers swap clubs, at least according to Fabrizio Romano.

Milan were intensely linked with the signing of another striker after Alvaro Morata’s arrival, and Abraham was reported as the No.1 target when it became obvious that he is no longer a part of Daniele De Rossi’s plans at Roma.

The idea of a swap deal quickly followed that but then the stories went quiet for a couple of weeks, with the former Chelsea forward even tipped to join West Ham United. However, yesterday the rumours fired up again that Abraham could join his good friend Fikayo Tomori at Milan.

According to Romano, Abraham has made it clean that he ‘wants a Milan move’ and talks over personal terms are already at the final stages, while on the flip side Saelemaekers ‘also wants the move to AS Roma’.

Milan and Roma are working on details of what will be a swap deal, but will involve a cash sum ‘in excess of €10m’ passing from the Rossoneri to the Giallorossi, implying that they agree on Abraham having a substantially higher valuation.

      2. Why not do to Roma what other clubs have masterfully done to us – DEFER the 10M to next year so Roma cannot sign Konè with it????

        That way we can sign BOTH Tammy AND Konè – while preventing Roma from taking him

        We all know if Benny doesn’t leave this summer he will January or next summer – so secure the replacement player now while preventing your competitor from getting him

        That is the smart way to do it – BUT – we have a banker in charge and apparently God himself is still hiking in the Alps🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

          There are so many better options… If we are sacrificing Saelemakers for another international spot, which could have easily been Jovic btw, at least sign an actual player… We can even skip sacrifices and go for u21 player…

          We are effectively making our squad weaker… RLC and Jovic need to be the next exists not Bennacer and Saelemakers…

            It’s only your opinion that selling Bennacer and Saelemaekers and replacing them with Abraham and Kone make the squad weaker..Saelemaekers IS 3rd choice winger on the team and wasn’t even at Milan last season..Bennacer is injury prone midfielder who is a liability and missed or was awful last season, and yet Milan finished 2nd without both of them.

            Musah, Koné and Fofana are same player at different ages… we have no one that can control the game…

    if Milan necessary wants striker so why don’t you buy Ellis Simms? five times better than Abraham and we still keep Saleamaekers. we could sell Okafor and Musah who are useless.

    Arguing about the pros/cons of signing Abraham and dumping Salad 2 days before the window closes?

    Another example of POOR PLANNING by management. We are now forced to scramble at the last min to sign a player (with questionable injury) history because we WAITED and tried to save $$$ and foolishly re-signed Jovic because he was FREE – who may now prevent us from even signing Abraham in the first place?? I mean At least Tammy is a real #9 – so that’s a start, just have to pray that knee is ok. But we will get him on the cheap so who cares right??? Ha!. It’s kinda funny – Fonseca was just praising Salad publicly saying how much he wanted to keep him and management after realizing they SCREWED up again in not getting a true #9 to back up Morata – totally says – to hell with you Fonseca – we are selling Salad LOLOLOLOLO. What a way to support the coach. But the Redbird lovers say well we had to include Salad because nobody wants Jovic – lol. No $h*t Sherlock. We said that months ago when he was resigned. Abraham is an excellent striker and was Roma’s best player before he was injured. He can certainly help this team. And Saleamakers..Please. We know who he is. We had him starting for us for years and couldn’t wait to get a proper RW in there. There’s a reason we got rid of him, there is a reason Bologna didn’t want to keep him and there’s a reason Motta didn’t want to bring him to Juve either. But now because we don’t ever want to give management credit for anything good, we are going to pretend that Saleamakers is some great player now. Abraham is a better player and fills a role this team needs right now. If that makes anyone angry, you are really angry about something else.

        I said to get Abraham for Salad as we desperately need another #9 as Jovic is not a #9 at all. I also said it is COMICAL that we are in this situation 1-2 days before the window closes and if we had a proper and EXPERIENCED management team – this position would have been adequately addressed LONG AGO. It’s also COMICAL that we need to dump the very player the coach pleaded publicly to keep.

    – He comes for a coach that will get fired shortly after

  15. This is great, I think. Abraham is a good striker and hopefully can avoid injury. Jovic made sense at the time as insurance and probably his salary was paid for just in reduced fees for Morata and now Abraham. I’d be just fine if Jovic didn’t play 200 minutes all season or got sold or loaned in January. Jovic is not somebody to count on. Inconsistent and prone to going a little nuts and picking up cards.

    I had Jonathan David as my number 1 striker pickup preference and Tammy as number 2. I didn’t even have Morata on my radar.

  18. I can’t believe it, we pay 10M plus a player instead of getting Chiesa for 13??? Liverpool is getting him for 13M and we go for Roma’s not wanted and pay 10M plus Alexis!!!!!

    Alexis is a very versatile player and a very good technical player without mentioning his workrate.
    I am suffering every day on decision made on regards to improving our team,😞
