Romano: ‘Excellent relations’ could see Milan land €30m Chelsea defender this summer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are intent on signing a new centre-back partner for Alessio Romagnoli this summer, a report claims, with one particular target in mind.

Milan were heavily linked with a move for a new defender throughout January, with Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo seemingly on his way in before that move broke down, and in the end Simon Kjaer arrived from Sevilla.

One of the alternative targets was believed to be Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen, and SportMediaset claimed that the Milan hierarchy were studying the idea of signing him, while Sky Italia also linked Milan with a move for the former Monchengladbach loanee.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s latest for Calciomercato.com, Milan are ready to go in for another central defender this summer, and the idea of signing Christensen could once again become a concrete one.

The Danish international will turn 24 in April and has not been used much by Franck Lampard this season, and Romano claims that ‘excellent relations’ could see Milan land Christensen in the summer having failed in January due to timing issues.

Christensen is valued at €30m by Transfermarkt which could be a snip given his age, while the report adds that he has asked for clarity on his future at Chelsea so he can begin to plan ahead.
