Romano: Milan keeping a close eye on Italian midfielder with resale clause up their sleeve

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing to monitor the development of Atalanta midfielder Matteo Pessina as they could take advantage of a beneficial clause.

Pessina was one of the stand-out performers in an exceptional season for Verona under Ivan Juric last season, scoring seven goals in 35 Serie A appearances playing as a box-to-box midfielder and attracting interest from top clubs in the process.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s latest for Calciomercato.com, Milan continue to monitor him with great attention for the future. They virtually have a 50% discount compared to other clubs due to a sell-on clause they negotiated when Pessina left for Atalanta as part of the Andrea Conti deal in 2017.

It will be valid also in the summer, as the duration is not limited and for this reason the Milan managers remain attentive to the growth of the youngster. It is not an operation for January as he remains untouchable, but Maldini and Massara have always reiterated their appreciation for Pessina.
