Romano: Milan continue pursuit of Liverpool striker on a free – “Work in progress”

As Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud aren’t exactly getting younger, AC Milan are looking for a striker ahead of next season. They are currently working on signing Liverpool striker Divock Origi, a report claims.

Ibrahimovic will turn 41 in October and will turn 36 in September, meaning Milan don’t exactly have young strikers. It might be that the duo only has one season left with the Rossoneri and thus they need to bring in a name for the future.

In the last few days, Origi has been mentioned as a concrete option for the club. His contract with Liverpool will expire in the summer and as per Fabrizio Romano, Milan are working on signing him on a free transfer.

“Work in progress,” the journalist wrote in his Twitter update. Origi scored in the game between Milan and Liverpool at San Siro and certainly has experience from big games. Being 26-years-old, he would be a player for the future as well as the present.

  1. Whats so special about a bench warmer striker that cant produce double digits, has no expirience in Serie A and going to receive a salary between 4 to 5 million euros!
If we have one budget of like 100 millions and we can add some of the money we get from sales we can get Botman for 30 million R.Sanches 15 million since is in the last year of contract send Messias to Cotrone and get Berardi for 30 million and get Scamacca for 35 million get this four guys and next year we can go far on Champions League and win the Scudetto!

    1. To satisfy your demand 4 player, AC Milan must ready cash botman 30m euro, scamacca 40m euro,Berardi 30m euro,Renato 20m euro total 120m euro. Sassoulo already stated only 40m euro offer that they consider for scamacca (the reason why inter withdraw from pursuit him), and i don’t believe sassoulo want to sell Berardi below 30m euro, not worth consider his age and he is not interesting move to bigger club . Let Maldini and chief Scout moncada working to find player for Pioli squad, just believe them. Origi have experience on big game ( scored crucial goal for Liverpool match ) , Like juro said there is no way AC Milan invest big on striker as long as Ibra extend contract, just be patient. For next season just 4 player enough like Origi, botman ,Renato or other box to box midfield,RW quality starter to replace saelemaker as starter

      1. Origi a big game scorer? He scores like 5 goals per season. Not what we need. We need striker(s) who can score 10-20 goals. Origi isn’t one.

        1. how many game minutes has Origi played… that is one question… give that guy time… he will do well. Giroud was not having game time in Chelsea… yet he is doing well here… consider the statistics

    2. Exactly the right questions! Belotti is a guaranteed double-digit guy and costs roughly the same (would most likely settle for less salary due to his fanhood of the club).

The people say Belotti is older. Yeah. 1,5 years. Insignificant.

And he has scored more Serie A goals than Origi in all competetitions.

  2. Piru… you didn’t ask yourself… have Giroud ever played Seria A… No…. Origi is a fine player… I stand to be corrected…..he only needs opportunity n time to play…

  3. Well Giroud has always been one of most underrated strikers wherever he played origi has been always one bench player that wen he gets a chance does no show up to the task!

  4. Sanches for 15M? I wish but he has too many suitors despite being in last year of his deal. Origi has CL experience and IMO will do great in Serie A – similar to Giroud, Abraham and Lukaku – all came from England and all are (or did w Lukaku) doing well in Italy where the game is much slower and less physical compared to the EPL….When you can play in English league you can play anywhere. Berardi has failed to shine against big competition and when in the national team – that is why Maldini is not too high on him at the moment. For His age and asking price (30-40M) we could do better and sign a more dynamic player. Berardi would no doubt help us and give us a reliable RW – but if we are aiming for CL – a more dynamic/fast younger player is needed (similar to Leao) IMO. Scamacca would be fine but he hasn’t exactly dominated the league this year. His numbers are good but he too lacks any experience in Europe. And until Ibra retires it’s obvious Maldini is not going to spend big on a striker -otherwise we could have signed Vlahovic when we had the chance. So it’s another year of Ibra/Giroud and possibly Origi (free) – then season after next when Ibra retires after the World Cup – we will spend big on a true #9 IMO.

  5. How do you want to get through the Champions League groups with Ibra at 42 years injury prone Giroud at 36 years with injury problems and Origi how dont guarantees double digits! And reneweal of Ibra depends on Sweden getting to World Cup and how his body feels!I have the feeling that he is going to get injured again until the end of the season and he decide to end his career!

    1. Piru… we’ll I don’t think that is what Juro is saying… I think Juro is saying that is what is looking like, will be available for us next season…. since Ibra is still on Milan might not make real big signing…. not necessarily going so far in the UCL.. which can not be over ruled… I tell you…. you see something about Milan is the team work… not necessarily Ibra… apart from the fact that Ibra has a strong desire to play… I feel he should just retire and take a post administratively.. so looking at the spirit of these team at the last UCL… write it down… they will do better than this season, Ibra or no Ibra… remember they were judged unfairly this year..

Am happy discussing with you guys… And we can all be pals..
