Romano: Newcastle ready to repeat Guimarães mission for Tonali’s medical

By Oliver Fisher -

Newcastle United have a medical team ready to fly out to meet Sandro Tonali so he can complete his medical, according to a report.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle staff are prepared to fly to Romania in order to arrange medicals for Tonali and they are just waiting for the final green light from the clubs.

Milan and Newcastle are working on the fee structure which should be the final step before a full agreement is reached. Romano recalls how the Magpies did same kind of ‘mission’ in Brazil when they signed Bruno Guimarães.

Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Newcastle raised their offer to €70m plus €5m in bonuses most recently, getting closer to Milan’s request of €80m, offering a deal that is worth a potential €10m net per season to the player and thus reaching an overall package which could come to around €140m.

  1. Im not sure Tonali is going to like life in the north east of England…..BUT on the other hand for 10M/year I would live in a toilet 🙂

    1. I do live in a toilet – in Newcastle, and not once have I regretted the decision to move here from Milan.

  2. One hit wonder for his lifetime, get it done bro.. these day, newcastle are in different level at least his mamooth money.

  3. Took a pay-cut to join his “boyhood club”, just to leave when a massive paycheck is offered.

I know there are other factors involved but that’s just a sad end to the story.

      1. Not time to move on yet, the deal can still fail as Milan and Newcaste have not find agreement. If the deal fail to materialize, I can see:

        Kamada – Free
        Thuram – Free
        Guler – 17.5m
        Reijnders – 17.5m

          1. You forget the money from the sale of Origi and Rebic as well as the removal of their salary.

Our SD is no longer Maldini, surely Furlani can sell both of them, no?

          2. “Our SD is no longer Maldini, surely Furlani can sell both of them, no?”

So you now actually want Milan to sell players? I thought everyone already made it clear that Milan is a feeder club and no one should be sold. Funny, eh?

          3. @bb: that was sarcasm

But what’s wrong with selling Origi and Rebic? They are surplus so selling them doesn’t mean we are feeder club.

    1. On one hand, I sorta agree.

      On the other hand, why?

He took a pay cut to join his boyhood club, and with them he won their first Scudetto since he was an elementary school student and also took them to the Champions League semifinal. Now he’s moving on as the most expensive Italian midfielder in history and going to be paid like a king to play in the most watched league in the world while still also competing in the Champions League.

      1. And still for some people Milan is the villain in the story for forcing him to accept the huge salary and play for the EPL championship. Poor Tonali, right?

    2. Why we don’t look this way; he’s willing to reduce his salary just to make sure he moved to his dream club. While on the other hand, his dream club (well, the management) is not even willing to do extra miles to keep him.

When you don’t get mutual trust and respect you deserved, it’s better to move on. As it happened the club that looking out for you offered massive salary, one way to show that they believe in you and your value. End of story.

  4. Good luck Sandro. Take a coat 😂.

He ‘could’ have gone on to be a Milan legend but I’ve doubted this tbh and I find him frustrating as hell. I think he was a couple of years away from being key for us, but he might actually be better suited to ‘get stuck in and pass forward’ in the Prem.

  5. Not sure why so many people are commenting as though Tonali has turned his back on Milan. I see it the other way round – he never wanted to leave, and would have happily stayed if the club had backed him. Instead, the club have decided to accept money to sell him. Given that this is the case, it’s not really an option for him to be stubborn and refuse to go – remember when Castillejo did that and everyone hated on him?

Poor management in my opinion – big/ambitious clubs don’t sell their emblems for money unless forced to. Instead, they keep them to build a team around and achieve success.

  6. I remember last week someone in here said to me that Mike, Tonali, Theo, and Leao are not on sale and i said he really naive to trust what the yankees said. So here we are lmao.

    Fvck cardinal and redbird!
