Ronaldo shares Berlusconi anecdote and explains why Ancelotti is ‘best person’ in football

Former AC Milan striker Ronaldo has shared some anecdotes about his time with the club under owner Silvio Berlusconi and head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Ronaldo is widely and rightly considered as one of the greatest players of all time as he burst onto the scene in the mid 1990s, starring at PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona and Inter, earning individual accolades include being named FIFA World Player of the Year three times and winning two Ballon d’Or awards.

After spending five years at Inter, Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2002 and won the 2002–03 LaLiga title, and he would go on to play for Milan in the 2007-08 season but by that point he was struggling with repeated injuries and he never quite had the desired impact, but did score important goals such as one in the derby.

Ronaldo ‘Il Fenomeno’ gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport during which he spoke about his time at Milan, with his comments relayed by PianetaMilan.

“I have not been to Milan for a long time, but I have great anecdotes. He [Berlusconi] used to come to the dressing room to tell us how we were to take the corners,” he said.

“There were a few games that we didn’t score on the corners and he came to tell us how they were shot. Ancelotti, a master. Incredible that he always knew everything, he made us listen. He always said ‘yes, yes, yes’. Then when Berlusconi came out ‘Let’s go back to our things’.

“Carlo for me is, by detachment, the best person that ever existed in the world of football. He is a friend to everyone, not just me. Everyone loves him and then, as a coach, he is incredible for quality, vision, ability to understand the players. He deserves everything he has won, for personality and character.”
