Sandro Tonali’s departure from AC Milan is still a painful topic for some, but his sale allowed the Rossoneri to renovate their squad. However, there have still been questions about whether the move was right.
For the Italian midfielder, the sky really is the limit, and this is why his move to Newcastle United stung. A Milan fan who had the material to captain the squad one day, players like him are rare, and to many, priceless.
However, the Diavolo had to operate smartly, and sometimes there are fees too great to refuse, and when Newcastle made a bid for Tonali, it was enough to see the midfielder leave, much to the despair of the fans.
Today, the true amount that Milan have earned from the sale has been revealed by Radio Rossonera, and without bonuses – which have not been triggered due to the midfielder’s ban last season – the figure stands at €58.9 million. From this, €4m must be taken due to the payment to Brescia, leaving the Diavolo with €44m capital gain.
For many, there are still hopes that Tonali will return to Milan – and possibly take the armband, but that’s another conversation – and today, a journalist stated that he believed that it could be possible in the future.
we earned alot of money but didnt use it well instead of buying a replacment we bough player that are no were near good enough for example musah, rlc and maybe reijnerds
I agree that some of the money they received from Tonali’s sale could’ve been used better. I must, however, say that Musah hasn’t been able to show what exactly he can do, with Pioli using him in a plethora of roles (which drastically hindered his tactical growth) and Fonseca not really using him that much so far. I can sort of agree with you on RLC, but it’s not like they got nothing from him (10 goals last season, though he doesn’t fit into Fonseca’s style at all). As for Reijnders well, he’s a midfielder that could easily get into every single team itw, even the likes of Man City and Real Madrid. He as well hasn’t been able to completely show what he can do, though he still managed to shine plenty of times and they only paid about €20 mln for him (absolute bargain). None of them are an exact replacement for Tonali, sure, but it’s not like they bought useless players.
Hope he comes back…one…boy do I miss the Tonali, Kessie, Bennacer grit in midfield…can’t say the same for Calha (traitor)…
Those three were pretty much evrething need in midfield. Defensive capabilities with all three (not all at the same level though), Kessie’s incredible physicality, Tonali’s grit and Bennacer’s precision and control with the ball at his feet. Calha was never that good at Milan, and the only reason he looks much better at Inter is their system. As soon as you take that away from him he becomes a bang-average player (as proven in most of his games for Turkey) so its not like there’s much to miss there.
i have never seen such a traitor as calha maybe dembele or figo but he always cries our find a silly child excuse to why he left milan
Almost 90 millions later and they’re yet to replace both Tonali and Kessie.
True. But in all fairness, Fofana can do most of what Kessie did (still came about 2 years too late). As for Tonali, it’s hard to find a decent replacement, and even then it still wouldn’t be enough to replace his grit, spirit and overall love for and dedication to the club.
No he can’t..not even close. Fofan is nothing like Kessie. Absolutely fúcking nothing.
Tonali, men I’m not even gonna go there.
I’m not saying he’s the perfect replacement, but he brings a lot of physicality and defensive capabilities to the team. And it’d be pretty hard to find a perfect replacement, even without considering the parameters set by Redbird.
Meh. Frendrup is just one name that can do it. It’s easy to find players like kessie. Or even better ones. We just shown 0 desire to do so.. or maybe moncada really is totally incompetent. I’m afraid he is.
We throw 20M for Musah ( “the kessie replacement) when we could’ve gotten hjulmand for that amount. And hjulmand was one the best young dm in the league and musah was American. Tough decision.
“Let’s generate some rant” article…
Don’t like the truth eh
For the love of God, bring Tonali back.Selling him was the biggest mistake.
The true cost of selling Tonali is measured by the loss of the individual, as a personality, and also the reality that most of the money was wasted on RLC and Chukwueze.
In theory selling a valuable player to turn him into 2 or 3 valuable players is sound. But the reality of his sale is that Milan gained almost nothing from it. The money was always there to sign Pulisic and Tijani.
Imagine the how things could currently look with Tonali in the pivot with Fofana, Tijani and Maldini as the AM and no RLC and Chuku.
Renovate 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Replaced iPhone16 with iphoneSE, and expecting to work with latest software upgrades
Reginders is far better than tonali
He has better passing and vision, but Tonali is better in most other areas: difensively, physically, shooting. And I say this a big fan of Reijnders (he’s still an amazing player).
Sold the talisman for 44m profit… so basically we bought chuk and musah. Nice. Terrible Terrible transfer
