Sacchi praises De Ketelaere and highlights duo’s display against Inter

By Isak Möller -

Charles De Ketelaere played from the first minute in AC Milan’s 3-2 win over Inter last night and receive mixed reviews from the media afterwards. Arrigo Sacchi, the legendary manager, had words of praise for the youngster.

The Belgian playmaker started the game well, using his acceleration to unmark himself and open up space for Milan. However, he faded a bit as the game went on and was eventually subbed off in favour of Brahim Diaz.

Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by SempreMilan.it, Sacchi shared his thoughts on De Ketelaere’s performance and highlighted the positives. He praised the midfield for their hard work throughout the game.

“He’s good, he has adjusted to the tempo of the game, he knows how to break free and he knows how to attack the spaces. Besides Leao and Giroud, I also liked the two midfielders: both Tonali and Bennacer made the team run well,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if De Ketelaere will play from start in Milan’s UCL opener against Salzburg on Tuesday. Given that he got 63 minutes last night rather than a full 90, it’s likely that he will play from the first minute.

  1. I think CDK was good, good teamwork to help pressing in Defending-Phase (very different when Brahim subs him).

CDK just dont have the confidence yet. Just like Leao before Leao found his believe & confidence in dribbles & speed.
I highlighted the moment CDK’s dribble pass his marker & shot but go wide. He has the flair & he is actually fast but never really use that speed.

When CDK found his confidence, yes he can be like Kaka or even better.

  2. CDK played Extremely well both tactically and otherwise, he was subtituted because of the yellow card he got, and he was gone, the difference was clear…..kid can play very good football and I like he is also a threat fróm

  3. CDK clearly has good technique, reasonable pace and close control and seems to be a smart player, finds space and occasionally contributes to the defensive phase. I like him and at his age, has room to improve.

However I don’t see the Kaka magic there, to suggest he can be better… well sure anythings possible but then I could say that about any young player. So far i haven’t seen evidence he could reach that level (Ballon D’or winner) but even if he gets close that would make him a fantastic signing.

For now, just hoping he isn’t over hyped, gets time and minutes, and within the next couple seasons, cements his role as undisputed starter at 10 (similar to how Leao used to alternate with Rebic etc but is now undisputed at LWF)

  4. Personally, I thought Tonali played really well. He gave a great performance, showing a maturity well beyond his age, I hope he can continue performing. CDK was decent but I though Inter’s defense was unusually sloppy.

  5. When the #Legendary Ricky Kaka came to San Siro, I’m sure he didn’t blossom into the best player in the world overnight… or did he?
Best believe “the young shall grow”!

  6. It’ll be in our favor if he gets better than Kaka
    Won’t that be a dream?
I hope so cos Kaka on his day was just unstoppable and I can see a similarity

  7. Kaka made player like Rui Costa’s calibre playing from the bench. What we need is competition inside the squad in order to keep players grow to their maximum potential. This is what missing since 2011 scudetto. I hope CDK gets competition from Milan squad in the future.
