By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the game between AC Milan and Salernitana, which is scheduled to kick off in half an hour, Alexis Saelemaekers spoke to the media. It’s the Rossoneri’s first game of 2023 and a strong start is needed.

Milan are currently eight points behind Napoli in the league standings and it will take a very impressive second half of the season to leapfrog them. Therefore, the first game will be crucial and a strong start is needed.

Speaking to Sky, as cited by MilanNews, Saelemaekers spoke about the game but also his return from injury. The Belgian missed out on the World Cup and he’s now eager to show himself in good form.

How are you?

“Now I’m much better, it’s never easy to watch your teammates from home. I worked and I feel ready and the team is also ready to do a good thing today.”

Pioli’s management…

“I think the team wasn’t complete yet, we did what we had to do. I think the coach has managed the team well and we are 100% ready to face this match.”

Do you believe in the comeback against Napoli?

“Of course, we believe in it, we look at each match and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.”

Saelemaekers is in the starting eleven, as expected, and it will be very interesting to see Milan after losing all three of their winter friendlies. There is a lot to work on but the hope is that the resumption will spark extra energy.
