Saelemaekers discusses top four ‘shame’, giving everything and proving himself: “A legendary club”

Alexis Saelemaekers is currently at the World Cup, but AC Milan remain at the front of his thoughts, as proven in an interview today.

The hurt of not qualifying for the Champions League will be felt by those at Milan for a while, perhaps until they have the time to put it right next summer. Indeed, it will remain a theme across the summer at the very least.

With the loss of finances, so to speak, targets change and the feasibility of different goals changes, too. Ultimately, the goals themselves will differ. They can no longer take the ‘next step’, when they have not yet arrived at the first.

Saelemaekers’ hurt

It has been well discussed how much the disappointment of not reaching the top four will remain. Now, Saelemaekers has looked at the situation and tried to find a positive spin on it. From Belgium’s World Cup training camp, he spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews).

“It’s a shame we didn’t achieve our season goals, but AC Milan is still AC Milan, a legendary club. In the Rossoneri, you have to give 100% in every training session, in every match. Personally, I’ve shown I can play at this level, and I’m proud to be in such a great team.”

No you haven’t, you have been a thorn in this milan ever since you joined. It’s a miracle you earn your living as a professional athlete

      1. Saelemaekers is one of my favourites of the current crop! He always gives his all, he is fierce in a good way, he always plays for the team and he has some serious skills even though the end product could develop even more.
