Saint-Etienne manager rules out move for Milan target: “He will still stay here”

As Leo Duarte failed to impress in the first three pre-season friendlies, only proving that he’s not good enough for Milan, the latter are now looking for a new centre-back. After all, they want a competitive squad.

Just a few days ago, MilanNews.it reported that the Rossoneri have three names on their wist list: German Pezzella, Nikola Milenkovic and Wesley Fofana. The latter, with a price tag of €30m, would have been the signing that best reflects Elliott’s philosophy.

However, it will be extremely hard for Milan to sign him this summer. During a press conference today, as cited by Milanlive.it, Saint-Etienne manager Claude Puel was asked about Fofana and ruled out a move for the youngster.

“Fofana has improved a lot, but he still has a lot to learn. He is an important player, but he needs to gain experience. He will still stay here with us to continue his growth path,” he stated.

The manager, in other words, is not keen on parting ways with Fofana and one can only assume that the club’s view is now the same. Perhaps the centre-back will be back on Milan’s radar next summer.
