Mayor Sala expresses worries over Milan and Inter projects: “It is unmanageable”

By Ben Dixon -

Currently, AC Milan and Inter are exploring opportunities to move away from San Siro, and throughout the process, they have been doubted by the Mayor. Today, his latest fears have been voiced.

Since the idea of a San Siro renovation project became a concrete possibility at the start of the year, Milan’s Mayor, Beppe Sala, has opposed any ideas for the big clubs to move away from the iconic stadium.

On several occasions, the politician has voiced his concerns about a move away, with new reasons seemingly being found on a weekly basis, and with a decision from both clubs expected soon, the time could be running out to oppose the moves.

Both clubs have plans from WeBuild, and internal conversations are still taking place. While it seems that moving away is the preferred option, a shock could be provided due to the cost of moving compared to the price of staying. Today, Sala spoke about some fears he has over the move, and his words have been relayed by Calcio e Finanza.

“The policemen? I have a community that asks me for more policemen on the streets and I can’t give them to San Donato. I believe that a stadium outside the city is unmanageable because I don’t know how many policemen Rozzano has as well. How can I deploy a hundred policemen when there is a match?”

    1. Exactly…. I don’t understand what’s he’s problem, him and the council refused them from rebuilding the stadium in way that profit the both clubs, and made an inconjuction to make the stadium a historical site….. Why not allow them go there seperate ways and build there’s…. Bayern Munich with stadium today can’t compete with Madrid in buying players, juve as well and you want to cage Milan and Inter.
