Sassuolo manager previews ‘difficult’ Milan clash and confirms three absences

By Isak Möller -

On the eve of the clash between AC Milan and Sassuolo, the latter’s manager Davide Ballardini spoke to the media at the usual press conference. In addition to previewing the game, he confirmed that three players will miss the action.

Sassuolo have certainly had a tough season so far, sitting in 19th place after 18 defeats in 31 games. Alessio Dionisi was sacked at the end of February and Ballardini was identified as the right man to guide the Neroverdi to salvation.

In his first five matches in charge, Sassuolo have won one, drawn two and lost two games. Not terrible, but more is needed before the end of the season. Speaking at his presser, as cited by MilanNews, Ballardini shared his thoughts on the game tomorrow.

Milan are set to make some rotation…

“At Milan, whoever plays is still a Milan player and we know that it will be a very difficult and complicated match. But in my opinion, if we have a good game, we can be on par with them.”

Which players will be unavailable tomorrow?

“Berardi you know, Pedersen has a back problem that he’s been struggling with for a while and Castillejo has pain in his knee. These three are not called up.”

What do you expect from Milan?

“I think that when you meet a team like Milan, or the other big teams that have three games in a week, it’s a slight advantage. However, Milan still have 26-27 players and they are all worthy of the shirt, so even the reserves will do well. It will be a difficult game.”

It remains to be seen what will happen but the expected rotation, as well as the tight schedule, has certainly given Sassuolo a better chance of clinching at least a point.
