AC Milan could use the money from a run in the Champions League to help afford Rafael Leao’s renewal, according to a report.
Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) talks about the future of Leao, who showed all of his dribbling, speed and finishing with a well-taken brace during the 4-0 win against Napoli on Sunday, playing with a smile on his face.
There will of course be further talk about his contract situation in the weeks to come, and a financial assist could come from the Champions League with the Rossoneri set to face Napoli on April 12 and 18.
Milan are ready to offer over €6m net per season, more than four times what the Portuguese earns now, but Leao’s entourage want €7m per year plus €2m as a signing bonus, in addition to paying the €16m fine to Sporting CP.
The paper add that the renewal could be sign if Milan get to the semi-finals of the Champions League, which would allow the club to earn €100m, in addition to the €50m they would collect in the event of a top four finish.

” in addition to paying the €16m fine to Sporting CP.”
WTF?!!!!!!!!!! That’s ludicrous!!! Go f* yourselves with those kinds of demands.
Next time he renews, he’ll be demanding 15-20m to stay
I don’t think this is new. It’s obvious this is the sticking point in the negotiations, not the 1m difference in salary. In a way it’s poetic justice. The event which arguably lead Leao to end up with us is also the event that will lead him away from us.
I say we renew and then we sell him, or just sell him. UWe can honestly buy 2 or 3 quality players with that money.
That’s not how finance works LMAO 😂
Actually, we had no part in this debacle. He unlawfully left Sporting for free and went to LOSC Lille. We bought him from lille for fair value. 23 Million € If I remember correctly. Thus the 32 Million € split damages awarded to Sporting are equally payable by Leao and Lille. We are being made to unreasonably bear the consequences of Lille’s illegal acquisition of a player, who helped them advance their status in the French League and then got them paid! Its both legally and morally wrong to expect Milan to pay his fine now. I’d rather he left for free than Ac Milan compromised on this tbh. Imagine the free for all it would cause amongst future players negotiating for contracts if we agreed to pay. We’d be bent over a barrel every few months. 7 Million+bonuses, maybe a small commission to the agent max!
