Igli Tare could soon be announced as the new sporting director of AC Milan, but as highlighted by Luca Serafini, the fact that the Rossoneri close the deal earlier only adds to the confusion.
Milan have been looking for a sporting director for several months now, following the falling out with Antonio D’Ottavio, and Tare has been out of contract since the summer of 2023. In other words, he could have arrived much earlier (mind you, it has not been made official yet).

Amid reports that he has now signed a contract, Luca Serafini questioned the appointment in his latest editorial for MilanNews. Highlighting the confusion that has been surrounding the club lately, he questioned why Tare wasn’t hired earlier if he was indeed the first choice.
“The parameters [for hiring someone] are a reasonable salary and the willingness to align with the project. In short, candidates who aren’t too expensive nor too invasive, almost regardless of talent and ability.
“Igli Tare has been free for a few years. If he was the first choice from the start, why didn’t they hire him a year ago? Or in January, February, March…? Why?”.
In any case, if the reports are correct, it will be nice to see a sporting director take charge as a lot of planning is needed for next season. It has been one of the missing pieces to the puzzle and shortly after, Milan will be able to choose the new head coach as well.

Waste of time and words. They chose him, now on only judge him on his results at Milan.
We dont have the gaul to go all out for Sartori or D’Amico. So we take the low hanging fruit. HAving said that, I wish him luck. He’ll need it.
bet you dont even know who D’Amico is other than ‘lol he is from Atalanta so he must be a god’
You realise he is only there for like 3 years, yeah?
Do most of you ever bother watching football or looking up facts or are just here to be outraged everyday?
ACM1899 is one of the most knowledgeable posters here. You clear don’t know him well, judging by your comment about him.
What about you? Do you even know who is Tare? Or did you know who he was? You always ready to question other IQ or football knowledge like you are godfather of Milan lol
Stop licking Milan management’s bu**hole
His resume reads almost worse than a rookie that’s why no one’s after him. 14 years as an SD, only 2 copas and two super cups, only two UCL participations. Come on. Plus he’s likely very very cheap in terms of salary paid. It’s the way of our current management. Pay for cheap you get cheap. Best of luck though. We’re already in a spot of a self inflicted year zero and he’s worked with low resources before…the problem is the expectations at Lazio is farrrrrrr lower than at Milan.
I mean with a season like this if we dont get relegated it would be a success
yeah and D’Amico is the one who built Atalanta by himself right? Andrea Berta is the sole reason Ath Madrid is competitive
Most of you dont even know these names and pretend to do so, its getting embarrassing, get help.
My post says nothing about D’Amico but your reading comprehension is well known on this site to be poor. Look at Tare’s resume. All those things stated above are facts, get help..it’s embarrassing.
He made Lazio competitive year in and out when Juve was dominating. SD don’t often get credit for their achievement. He’s not the worse out there. Would you rather someone who has no experience in Italy to lead the project Maldini and Massara weren’tthatexperience either they did a good job.. It’s a safer bet, Pioli came to Milan no trophies and ended our drought for 11 yrs. I was for the Ex Juve but he’s suspended until July.
Competitive? Lazio? Let me post something from a year or so ago. They’re faaaarrrr from competitive especially in Europe.
Shortened for clarity

….Tare became sporting director in 2009-10 season (he received his licence in April of 09). That makes it 14 seasons at the helm and….
….his best accomplishment in the league after so many years was *drum roll please* 2nd and that was this year 🤔. Assuming (he started, sic) the 09-10 season, we can get as low as 12th and as high as 2nd. In those 15 seasons, Lazio have qualified only 3 times for the UCL, once with Pioli as the helm mind you when they finished 3rd in the league. They’ve finished between 5th and 8th 8 times out of those 14 years and the rest were below 8th place. Further to his “great work”, he won the Coppa 2x and runners up 2x. Outstanding.
Highest achievement in UCL was R16 and the other time didn’t even make it out of quali because……..as you’ve guessed Lazio didn’t strengthen the squad. Perennial Europa League team but only have gone up to the quarter finals as the best result.
Those are sporting results…”
I’m sorry bro. We’ll have to disagree on competitive here. Lazio were more likely to be worse than 5th than better….and this is who bwe hired.
Now granted this is a step in the right direction in terms of having an actually SD, it still leaves alot to be desired
What do you want us to do here? Should we stop mentioning ‘other names’ and only write positive things about whatever current I diots are doing with Milan? Is that what you are trying to achieve?
Did you forget that everyone laughed at you and kicked you out of this website last spring after Milan got schooled by Roma in Europe League? You are asking that treatment second time
Stop being azzhole, you are not smarter than everyone, as a matter of fact, homeless dogs are smarter than you
“Igli Tare has been free for a few years. If he was the first choice from the start, why didn’t they hire him a year ago?”
Ridiculous argument. Obviously this clown show of a management group thought they were smarter than everyone else a year ago and didn’t need a professional DS.
Humble pie is forcing this move.
What a bs argument. Take for example Zidane, a CL winning coach with Real. He must suck big time considering he’s without a club for years now.
On SD matter, I don’t see any of the top 5 clubs in Italy who would need a new SD. They all have that occupation resolved.
Another Fonseca but as an SD? Well, still miles better than a scout or an accountant acted as sporting / technical director.
Must have “yes man” on his curriculum vitae.
You know the fact that Conte could have joined us and he wanted tk join us this season and we opted for a ‘cheap’ alternative in fonseca. To just watch Conte celebrate another scudetto. What a joke.
On paper we have a better team than napoli in every department and we cheaper out on a manager just like napoli did last season. The result? We both finished mid table. Conte would have probably guaranteed us a scudetto so yes, screw this management even more.
This is another strawman for Serafini….
Conte was free for a bit too….lol…
Boulden needs help with reading
Summer arrived, school is over.
He usually comes back from school to his parents basement to spend the summer there, writing garbage in this website whole summer.
Real kids bully him all year long, therefore he needs to take his revenge online from others.
He is too scared to talk in real life like he talks here
One positive thing about Tare is that scu mbag Furlani didn’t want him lol Stuart Little has a power ego, he doesn’t want someone who disagree with him, Tare must not be a ‘YES’ man. It’s still better to have Tare than random accountant to a SD. The only problem is he still reports to Stuart Little (Furlani)
I read an interview on milannews of a close associate of Tare that one of his conditions was autonomy of work. Without that, he wouldn’t accept the job. Let’s see but I have a feeling that little insecure rat will do his best to sabotage.
Tare is shit! He did ONE good signing in all his life it was Milinkovic-Savic! That’s it! He’s not Milan material if he was good he would have found a job long time ago. Milan’s management are just going for the cheapest and easiest option just like they did with our coaches. Me and many other old school fans wanted Conte from day 1! I told all my Italian friends that Conte will win with Napoli in his first season but they laughed at me. Milan Need Conte on a 2 year contract. Let him win the Scudetto in the first and give him one more year to see how he handles several competitions next year. That’s it!
