Simic shows off gift from Paolo Maldini after Anderlecht move: “I wish you the best”

Jan-Carlo Simic has revealed that he received a shirt from Paolo Maldini, wishing him good luck after he left AC Milan for Anderlecht.

Simic posted on his Instagram story to show that he had been gifted a signed jersey by the legendary defender, with the following message: “To Jan-Carlo, I wish you the best. You deserve it! With love, Paolo Maldini.”

The Serbian centre-back added a comment as part of the post: “A childhood dream come true. Thank you idol.”

It was a sad ending for Simic after the 19-year-old made his first team debut last December at a time when there was a crisis in the rearguard, and he scored against Monza off the bench while making six appearances in total under Stefano Pioli.

With his contract expire in June 2025 and amid stories of a difficult renewal it emerged that Anderlecht had found an agreement with Milan over a permanent transfer for Simic, something which was confirmed not long ago.

    1. Agreed! It was a terrible move by Milan management. Young and promising defense and they let him go for peanuts while keeping Thiaw who is absolutely terrible.

      1. Kid wanted regular gametime..even if he stays he is 4th choice at best.
Would you as a football player be content with that? I wouldn’t

  1. Elswhere, our academy graduate Brescianini scored a brace on his debut with Atalanta🫢

But hey we’re at least getting those 6 millions out of the deal. Somewhere next year. Probably. Hope so.

      1. So?

        Is that your defence?

My definition of ‘academy player’ is young players we brought to the club at some stage presumably with some kind of plan to one day integrate them into the first team until….SQUIRREL….

(It’s the lack of focus that hurts the most)

But, sure, let’s all take time out of our day to defend the stupid decisions of people we don’t know and probably shouldn’t care about.

      2. And your point? Did he not play as a youth player?I am curious when are you going to stop defending the management…maybe when they sell carmada? Or some of our other youth players? Maybe your just like many other so called fans tongue is so far up furlanis and Gerry’s ass you can’t see the trees from the forest.

        1. Maybe they should’ve sold thiaw, tomori and kalulu so simic could play. I guess then you’d be happy, right?

I don’t defend the management, I don’t condone it either. They will sell our youth. This was the model even in berlo time. But again. People have short memories
