Sky: Bennacer, Chukwueze and Kjaer could start for Milan against Monza

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Monza tomorrow and after losing their last outing in the league, they will be looking to get back to winning ways. According to a report, Stefano Pioli could make three changes to the starting XI.

The Rossoneri were knocked out of the Champions League earlier this week but at least won their last game, beating Newcastle by two goals to one. There was more bad news, though, as Yunus Musah got injured in the clash and thus will miss out tomorrow.

According to Sky Italia, as cited by Radio Rossonera, Pioli could make quite a few changes to the starting XI. Davide Calabria is suspended and he will be replaced either by Davide Bartesaghi or Simon Kjaer. The latter carried out his second training today since returning from injury and could be ready.

In midfield, Ismael Bennacer is in pole position to replace Musah, set for his first start since the comeback. He has responded well in the last few league games and his condition appears to be very good, although he likely won’t play the entire game tomorrow.

Finally, in attack, Samuel Chukwueze could give Christian Pulisic some rest after scoring the winner against Newcastle. The Nigerian needs to continue like that, and Pioli is tempted to play him from start.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Tomori, Kjaer (Bartesaghi), Hernandez; Bennacer, Reijnders; Chukwueze (Pulisic), Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud.

    1. I don’t understand what’s so great about RLC in the 10 position. He had ONE good game there and has looked under 6/10 every other time. He looks much better from the true midfield position. I get giving pulisic some rest but as soon as possible play chuck on rw and pulisic at the 10. Now that Chuck looks like he may be finding his footing that is our best possible 11 then let everyone else compete for the 2nd double pivot spot.

  1. Giroud is class ,that’s why pioli rates him .it’s as simple as that …let’s face it he is a good man to have up front ,,so strong and can hold the ball up so well ,,and technically he is so gifted …just look at his stats ,,,not bad for a man of 36 years of age ..8 goals 3 assists..
2nd top scorer in the league…all in all he has done well for us ,,,that’s not to say he should start every game…jovic looks to be getting better ,,,and okafor is also available,,,but this match I would like to see both Loftus cheek and pulisic start …let’s see how we go at half time against Monza …got a feeling we are going to win this match by more than two clear goals .
Olivier Giroud,,,I really do fancy him to score in this one ….

  2. Like it or not, Giroud is our current best striker. He already made 9 goals and 4 assist this season. When comes to striker, you need to start your best one because they have the highest probability to score a goal.

It’s the same when people complained why Ancelotti always plays old man Pippo in the front when he has younger striker like Gillardino and Borriello. It was because Pippo have higher goal rate than the two.

  3. Give Chuky the nod!

I feel Chuk will do great in the EL and continue his bad run in Serie A. But would still like him to have the chance to show he is Milan material.

  4. If Kjaer is ok, he should start with Tomori at the back, Florenzi and Theo on the wings, Giroud, Leao and Pulisic in attack. I think Pioli would want the same energy from the trio: Jovic, Okafor, and Chukwueze, in the second half, as they did against Newcastle. It’s so good to have Bennacer back. The middle has been a problem lately. I expect better performance from there with Bennacer back.
