Sky: Centre-back duo available for Roma game but neither to be risked – Gabbia in line to start

AC Milan are unlikely to risk Simon Kjaer for Sunday’s crucial clash against Roma at San Siro, according to the latest reports.

Kjaer’s injury against Lecce, is keeping everyone in suspense. He went down in a heap around the half hour mark of the game at the Stadio Via del Mare and continued for 11 minutes before being forced off due to discomfort in his knee.

Tests on Tuesday ruled out ligament damage, but today the feeling is that the 31-year-old will not be available for Sunday’s crucial home game against Roma.

Sky Italia (via MilanLive) are reporting that Leo Duarte and Kjaer will be available in some capacity for Milan-Roma, but it is likely that Matteo Gabbia starts alongside Alessio Romagnoli against the Giallorossi.

That is because the Rossoneri medical staff are not keen on the idea of risking Duarte and Kjaer as they may re-aggravate their respective injuries, while Gabbia has already got some good appearances under his belt this season and is held in high regard at Milanello.
