AC Milan have made the decision not to call up Gianluigi Donnarumma for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Juventus, it is claimed.
According to the latest from Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Donnarumma will not be called up for Juventus-Milan due to the problem in his left ankle that stopped him playing the full 90 minutes against Fiorentina.
The decision was made by mutual agreement with the club’s medical staff, who believe that the 21-year-old needs a few more days to recover so as not to agitate the issue even more. Asmir Begovic will start in goal instead.
It makes a difficult night of selection issues even worse for head coach Stefano Pioli, who is already having to deal with the absences of Theo Hernandez, Samu Castillejo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to suspension.
The latest reports suggest Davide Calabria will replace the former, with Paqueta taking Castillejo’s spot wide right and Rafael Leao to lead the line in place of the Swede.
