Sky: Florenzi undergoes MRI scan on adductor – the results

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessandro Florenzi has avoided any kind of serious muscle injury and the hope is that he will make it back for the next league game, according to a report.

It was just a few minutes after Milan’s second goal when Florenzi pulled up having felt a tweak in his thigh and the decision was made to bring him off, with Real Madrid loanee Alex Jimenez replacing him.

Head coach Stefano Pioli spoke to Milan TV after the game and he gave an update on Florenzi’s condition, while Sky also reported at the time that it was more precautionary due to the discomfort rather than a strain or tear being felt.

Now, Sky are reporting that the full-back underwent an MRI after requesting a substitution in the 35th minute of the match against Empoli. The exam showed an overload in the left adductor region, but no muscle lesions.

The Italian will miss the game against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia, but the report claims that he should return in time for the Serie A fixture against Roma at San Siro on Sunday.

What Pioli will now do for the midweek cup game remains to be seen, but Jimenez could well be trusted again from the start as he was against Cagliari.
