Sky journalist expects Fonseca to call on Milan Futuro duo to fix midfield issues

The news of Ismael Bennacer’s injury while away on international duty has caused some panic at AC Milan, with Paulo Fonseca considering calling up two players from Milan Futuro.

Milan have found themselves with a bit of a midfield mess as we wrote about at length yesterday. Bennacer spent most of the summer with his suitcase packed but ended up staying, then he suffered an injury last week with Algeria that could see him miss up to three months.

A number of other targets were mentioned during the summer window such as Manu Kone, who ended up at Roma. In the end though Youssouf Fofana was the only addition, and that has left Fonseca a bit short on options in the middle of the park after Bennacer’s injury.

Manuele Baiocchini spoke on Sky about Milan’s midfield worries and he suggested that a solution could come from the Futuro, who are currently in their debut season in Serie C.

“Excellent observation, the blanket in midfield is short. Bennacer has missed many games and Fonseca will not have him available for a long time, that’s why Milan wanted to insert another midfielder,” he said (via Radio Rossonera).

“Bennacer is out, Musah will return to training on Thursday or Friday, Reijnders will be back on the pitch on Thursday and Loftus-Cheek has always been used as an attacking midfielder, he will have to readjust to the role of midfielder and then Fofana is expected.

“At least one more [midfielder] would have been useful from the transfer window, Milan will not use the free agent market and at this point drawing from Milan Futuro could be an idea: Vos and Zeroli are the most ready.”

  1. I really like Zeroli and he has the physique and talent to play in our midfield. I would even select him ahead of RLC.

Vo looks good as well and Fonseca should have Vo, Zeroli, Coubis, and Barteshega in the first team. They are more ready in my opinion that Liberali who I think still needs another year to develop physically.
