Sky: Genoa targeting Milan forward in addition to ambitious Retegui deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Lorenzo Colombo is attracting interest ahead of next season with Genoa the latest side to come forward, according to a report.

According to what is being reported by Sky, Genoa have a big target for the attack that requires a great effort on the part of the club and it is Mateo Retegui. It will not be an easy deal, but the player’s desire to move to Italy could help things.

However, the Grifone are also thinking about a move for Lorenzo Colombo, who has recently returned to Milan after a good season on loan with Lecce in which he got consistent top flight minutes for the first time.

If Genoa come forward with a concrete proposal – be it for a loan or a permanent transfer – it will be up to the management to decide what to do.

Stefano Pioli will also have a say, and there has been talk of him wanting to evaluate the 21-year-old in preseason.

  1. Why doesn’t Milan just go for Retegui since he seems to be in the price range that Genoa can pay? If you are looking for a 2nd striker that can maybe become the first choice I don’t see a better gamble than that guy.

    1. Yeah such a mystery why the guy vanished since he’s young, promising as he scored twice in two games with la Nazionale and is in our price range.

Colombo is ripped af he looks ready to compete with grown-ups and I hope he could convince Pioli and stay as the third option.

  2. There’s zero chance of Colombo ever making it at Milan and it’s got nothing to do with ability.

Milan have had multiple prolific goal scorers at youth level from Ganz to Comi to Cutrone and NONE of them have made it. NONE.

They all scored at youth level and then just forgot. And even when they didn’t forget, as in the case of Cutrone who outscored the likes of Higuain, they were still not good enough.

They will never be good enough because in the very serious “business” of football you sell your youth players to fund more expensive signings who you then sell at a loss.

    Get it?

It’s a very serious “business” football. It’s why we should spend endless time talking about all this great money that we’re spending and making, and flippin’ and floppin’, movin’ and a makin’, wheelin’ and a dealin’. It’s just so exciting watching your team be destroyed each transfer window. Oh what a wonderful thing modern football is.

    1. Don’t worry Camarda is the golden boy according to ppl here. He’ll be the greatest striker Milan for sure

    2. Of all the names you mentioned above have any of them excelled after leaving Milan wherever they went? Maybe they’re not that good afterall.

    3. Primavera in Italy is just not that good.

For real evaluation the player need to play in lower league to see how he fare against more serius, but lower quality oposition.

The young Forwards you mentioned, none really make it after they leave Milan.. just showed they Mess something. Maybe technical, maybe fitness, maybe psychologist. Who know.

But if the player itself is good, Milan will use him. And Pioli will use him, like Leao, Theo, Brahim, Kalulu, Thiaw etc. They come to us at young age, has enough quality, so they play.
