Sky: Ibrahimovic’s recovery going to plan but return not expected before mid-September

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be available until after the international break as the medical staff do not want to rush his recovery, a report claims.

According to Sky’s Milan correspondent Peppe Di Stefano (via MilanNews), the team resumed work yesterday with the return of Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer from Olympic duty and Covid respectively, which is a big boost to preseason preparations ahead of Saturday’s final preseason friendly against Panathinaikos.

Regarding Ibrahimovic’s condition, the Swede is continuing his rehabilitation through an individual program that continues smoothly and according to the schedule already established. The 39-year-old has done some work running on the sand pits and this is good news, but his return is not expected before the end of the month.

Instead, his first appearance is to be expected immediately after the break, therefore the third game of the season (vs. Lazio on September 12) or possibly the first of the Champions League group stages.
