Sky journalists praise Milan for €20m coup from Real Madrid and Maldini for his ‘firm words’

A lot of praise was heaped upon AC Milan in the Sky studios after last night’s 7-0 drubbing of Torino at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin.

In truth, the city of Turin must be considering the idea of banning Milan from visiting again as they followed up Sunday’s huge 3-0 win against Juventus by putting seven goals past Torino in a 7-0 demolition job tonight.

Milan were 2-0 up at the break thanks to Theo Hernandez’s rocket strike and a penalty from Franck Kessie, but that was the calm before the storm in many ways. The Diavolo were 4-0 up just after the hour as Brahim Diaz scored and Theo got his second, before a 12-minute hat-trick from Ante Rebic made it 7-0 and completed an astonishing victory.

Gianluca Di Marzio, present in the Sky studios, spoke about Theo Hernandez who has become one of the pillars of Pioli’s team and scored twice last night.

“We must congratulate Milan and Maldini, but Massara also liked Theo a lot. When we talked to him telling him he had spent 20 million for a left-back when Rodríguez and Laxalt were already in the squad, he said: ‘This is a fantastic player.’ Going to take Theo 20 million from Real, who were wrong not to bet on a talented player, Milan made a bang from every point of view,” he said (via MilanNews).

Pundit Giancarlo Marocchi also sent some words of praise Maldini’s way: “Paolo’s face and words have done a lot. Since the end of last year, where I imagine he spent everything in himself to keep Pioli, until this year, in moments of difficulty and euphoria he has always had a calm face, firm words, firm goals.”
