Sky: Kjaer trains with squad after 37-day absence and could make Atalanta

By Oliver Fisher -

It has been a frustrating recent period for Simon Kjaer as he has spent over a month out due to muscle issues, though a return seems to be getting closer.

The Danish central defender has been unavailable for 37 days to be precise, which obviously could increase if he actually doesn’t get called up against Atalanta. He has struggled to shake off muscle discomfort which has prevented him from dialling up the intensity in training.

Kjaer sustained the problem on 29 October, the morning of the departure for Naples for the away match which ended in a 2-2 draw. The problem had been identified as muscle strain, but in the following weeks it was realised that the problem was more serious and it left him with an irritation problem.

According to the latest from Sky, Kjaer returned to training with the rest of the squad today and for him there is a better chance of being on the bench against Atalanta on Sunday compared to Rafael Leao.

  1. Kjaer did many good for Milan, but in my opinion in summer 2024 we should see his exit, with Caldara, Mirante and Jovic, plus selling of Krunic in this winter or summer 2024 at most.
With selling all current players who are now on loan, we could make much stronger team with new arrivals.

    1. My opinion would be extending Mirante for one more season. His salary is low, plus we already have very few Italians in senior team to begin with.

  2. His time at top level is coming to an end, Euro 2024 might be his last tournament but man what a leader he is. We need more leaders like him in the team, I guess this is the reason why we are seeing rumors linking us to Muller.

  3. Let’s recruit back these two players who went on loan bcos they would be very useful to the team and they are Saelemakers and CDK
