Now that the summer window has closed, the AC Milan management are able to focus on some key renewals that they want to get sorted as soon as possible.
According to Sky, the first port of call will be to speak with Rade Krunic and his entourage. His exit was blocked despite the pressure of Lyon and Feberbahce in the last days of August, and as part of that the Bosnian was promised a new deal.
He earns €1.1m net per season at present, practically a quarter of Ruben Loftus-Cheek – his midfield team-mate – receives following his arrival from Chelsea. He wants his centrality in the Milan project to be recognised also on an economic level.
The same applies for Mike Maignan whose salary is the tenth-highest in the squad at the moment at €2.8m net per season, while his importance to the team is certainly higher. He will be offered a new deal with a salary adjustment.
Malick Thiaw only signed last summer but he earns under €1m net per season despite being a starting centre-back and having produced high-level performances particularly in the Champions League.
Olivier Giroud’s renewal seems ‘obvious’ if no offers from Saudi Arabia arrive (deal runs until next June), as well as the probable one of captain Davide Calabria, with his contract expiring expiring in 2025.
Simon Kjaer and Antonio Mirante are in the last year of their contract, plus Mattia Caldara who could leave as early as January when the transfer window officially reopens.
