Sky: Lukaku, Dovbyk and Zirkzee – Milan seek clarity in pursuit of new striker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing to pursue a new striker and there seems to be some confusion about exactly who might arrive, at least according to the latest update.

As Sky confirm, the search for a new centre-forward is top of the to-do list for the management and Romelu Lukaku – whose Euro 2024 campaign ended last night as Belgium lost to France – has decided to take a few days to reflect on his future.

If on the one hand Napoli cannot move for him until they sell Victor Osimhen (who is wanted in the Middle East and in the Premier League), Milan remains vigilant on the Belgian but have not yet presented an offer to Chelsea.

They must find a strategy to convince the player on the salary front given that he currently earns an amount at Chelsea that the management are not willing to pay. In addition to that, they must find an agreement with the Blues over the formula and amounts.

For this reason, Milan remain interested in Artem Dovbyk with new contacts having been registered after Ukraine’s exit from the European Championship. Only once the full picture has been defined will the Rossoneri make concrete moves for the striker.

Milan will continue to try for Joshua Zirkzee too, even if Manchester United seem to be the team that are now leading the race despite all the work Geoffrey Moncada and co. did on the Dutchman.

  1. How about Gerry puts all the names in a hat, puts on a blindfold, gets Moncada to spin him round 10 times and Gerry stumbling through dizziness picks one name from the hat?

On a serious note, forget Zirkzee, for me Dobvyk and Gimenez seem the best candidates. Both have scored lots of goals for their clubs, they both seem to be natural goalscorers…both are a really good age. Right now I think Gimenez has the slight edge, but either would be a great signing.

    1. But gimenez is cráp tho. He’s basically Bacca without the sevilla seasons. I like Bacca but we really and I mean really don’t need a striker of that type. We need a target man type

      1. I like him, he has an edge a bit like Lauraro as Oliver has pointed out several times, he’ll put his head in the way of a boot to score, he’ll scrap but also he good technical ability..He’s also 6ft tall so not small.

What I don’t want is a reject from another club, I want a player who’s made a name at a smaller club and is ready for the big stage (Dobvyk, Gimenez) we need a striker who’s hungry for success, not a journeyman like Lukaku…or an injury waiting to happen like Tammy or Broja: if we are just going to go for another stop gap I’d go for Icardi all day long

        1. If the Dovbyk in a heartbeat. The others? Big no. Maybe Abraham if the price is right.

Gimenez ia basically jovic but x5 the price

          1. Dovbyk? I don’t think he got passed any defenders during the EUROs and he can’t use his weaker foot for anything. Pass.

          2. who gives a f about euros. you play 3-4 games there and that is supposed to be an indicator of players quality? nah

This is the market, we either pay up and bring a somewhat decent ST (never gonna happen) or we bring a dovbyk, david, gimenez and hope for the best.

We’re not lucky enough to land a Boniface deal

    1. Yeah…his wages were “too much”…

A proven scorer is not cheap, never was. The more of them get signed, the higher the prices for the remaining available ones become. This management doesn’t seem to understand the cost of doing business and how the market works.

You can’t expect bargains for scorers, not one that offers guarantees. At our level, after losing Zlatan and Girdoud, they don’t really have a choice but to pay up or shut up.

  2. I don’t want to read this article, but can clearly Milan’s management is confused, like a deer caught up in bright lights !!! 😡😡😡😡

  3. When milan busy with his idols , chelsea already get barca striker marc guiu for only 6m on his release clause and dortmund has snapped bundesliga top scorer serhou guirassy from stuttgart. Milan too many theory or Maybe they have no money??

  4. Lets face it… this season is f..d… might as well start camarda, zeroli, simic, bartesaghi and see what happens… these boys are no worse than what we have

    1. Agreed. Our primavera player are no worse than we thinking. Remember United with his class of 92. They play with no fear. Milan should be can do it like that…
