Sky: Milan close in on renewal of key midfielder – release clause may be inserted

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are close to agreeing a contract renewal for Hakan Calhanoglu, a report claims, but a release clause could be inserted.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Friday (via MilanNews) that Calhanoglu does not want to renew his deal, as it seems he wants to go home to Germany where he was born and raised.

RB Leipzig and Hertha Berlin were credited with interest in the report, but the midfielder responded on his Instagram story, stating that there is ‘too much fake news in the newspapers today’.

Now, Sky Italia have provided an update (via MilanNews), claiming that in the last few days Milan met Gordon Stipic – the Turkish midfielder’s agent – to talk about the renewal of the number 10, whose contract will expire in 2021.

The player is happy with the Rossoneri and an agreement can be found without major problems. Milan are planning to include a termination clause, so that the former Bayer Leverksuen has an exit price if things don’t go as planned in the coming years.
