Sky: Milan and Daniel Maldini give green light to new Serie A loan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear to have made the decision to send Daniel Maldini out on loan again and he is expected to join Empoli, according to a report.

As stated Gianluca Di Marzio on Sky (via MilanLive), Daniel Maldini should join Empoli on an initial loan deal which will have an option to buy included, buy a buy-back in favour of Milan too.

After a season on loan with Spezia in which he mostly came off the bench and battled injury issues, the playmaker is heading to Empoli who have Tommaso Baldanzi in that role but show faith in young talent.

Empoli could be a great fit for the 22-year-old because they do play with an attacking midfielder which means Maldini should slot into his role and express his characteristics to the fullest.

If he impressed then the Azzurri can buy him outright, with the Rossoneri reserving the possibility of regaining control via a buy-back.

  1. Welp that’s that. The faster leaves Milan the better for his career. It’s hard to live up to that surname first of all and at this point it doesn’t seem Milan wants him in his role. No everyone can be as good as their parents. It’s not a failure, just looking at things objectively. He can still carve out a successful career

    1. Pretty much.

I don’t think it’s the weight of his name.

It’s more that Pioli and ors are not smart and analytical enough to look past the flaws young players have.

Other clubs, usually a youth club, the a second/third tier club (I.e. in Belgium, France, Holland, Argentina or Brazil) are the ones who round all the rough edges so that the players are largely a finished product by the time we’re looking at them – when Moncada’s genius identifies them (along with every other scout on the continent). Or we simply don’t see the day to day so we have no real appreciation of the players flaws.

    1. He didn’t have place because he didn’t have the quality necessary. Not because he is Italian.

He wasn’t even first choice player in a relegated team last season.
