Sky: Milan decide to sign a different mould of playmaker to Brahim Diaz

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are thinking of signing a new playmaker with different characteristics to Brahim Diaz in order to transform the attack, a report claims.

Brahim Diaz spent a year on loan at Milan from Real Madrid in 2020-21 and his excellent end to the campaign convinced the two teams to renew the loan for another two years with an option to buy in favour of the Rossoneri.

He started the following season well, scoring 4 goals in his first 9 appearances, but failed to score from September onwards and ended up behind Franck Kessie and Rade Krunic in the pecking order by the end of the season.

Stefano De Grandis spoke on Sky (via MilanNews) about the importance of physicality in Serie A, recalling how it was crucial for Milan as they had Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the focal point in the first part of their Scudetto-winning season and then leaned on Olivier Giroud’s vital goals in the second half.

Now, the management are thinking of signing a more physical attacking midfielder than Brahim Diaz, who did not do too well after the first encouraging flashes. He also mentioned a target: Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge.

  2. Why not Damsgaard from Sampdoria? Milan were trying to get himm. Now its the time when clubs busy with other players and not focusing on him. He is a good player.
