Sky: Milan hold further talks over Roma ex-captain and are confident of completing deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have held further talks over a deal for Alessandro Florenzi and are confident of closing the operation, according to a report.

According to Sky Italia’s Milan correspondent Peppe Di Stefano (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri management are working to try and reach a positive conclusion on the Florenzi front, given that he appears to be the main target for the role of deputy to Davide Calabria given his experience and versatility.

This morning there were indirect contacts regarding the 30-year-old right-back that have led to optimism for the closing of the deal. What has been a long and drawn out search for Diogo Dalot’s replacement – after his loan from Manchester United expired – could well end in success, therefore.

Calciomercato.com reported earlier today that the pursuit of Florenzi has been slowed down due to other operations in progress but negotiations are still well underway as the full-back is not part of the Giallorossi’s plans, with a €6m fee agreed but some work on the formula to be done.
