Sky: Milan need a goalkeeper but Bournemouth man won’t return – the reason

By Isak Möller -

Although Antonio Donnarumma is in the squad, Milan are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper this transfer window who can act as Gigio Donnarumma’s deputy. However, their most recent solution won’t make a return.

In January, when Pepe Reina was loaned out to Aston Villa, Milan decided to bring in Asmir Begovic from Bournemouth on a dry loan. The Bosnian made just two appearances but showed his qualities when called into action.

However, as reported by Sky Italia this evening (via MilanNews.it), he won’t return to Milan for next season. The Rossoneri did probe the opportunity but ultimately scrapped the idea as the salary demands were too high.

The 33-year-old earned just €500K for his six-month spell at the club but seemingly wanted more to sign for one more year. It remains to be seen who Milan will bring in before the end of the window, as it’s certainly an important gap to fill.
