Sky Germany: Milan evaluating as Nottingham Forest and Bundesliga sides eye Simic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have received expressions of interest from a number of clubs who want to take young defender Jan-Carlo Simic on loan, a report claims.

Simic impressed in his first game with the senior side against Real Madrid on Monday, starting because Matteo Gabbia is heading for Villarreal on loan, while he was picked out before the tour of the USA as one of the ones to watch.

According to what is being reported by Sky Germany (via Twitter), his rise has not gone unnoticed as some Bundesliga clubs have come forward and expressed a desire to take him on loan.

However, they are not alone as Premier League club Nottingham Forest, Serie A newcomers Frosinone and Belgian side Club Brugge have also asked for a loan.

Milan are evaluating the situation because they rate Simic highly and want him to get consistent playing time to ensure his development, but Gabbia is leaving which leaves them a player lighter in the role.

  1. I’d let him go back to Stuttgart where he came from on a dry loan. Stuttgart have a poor defense and Simic would get serious minutes to develop his game properly

  2. If he leaves, a dry loan only. No option to buy. Frosinone would probably be my first pick. I think we have plenty of CBs even with Gabbia leaving. Remember we have Thiaw too.

    1. We need 5CB for full coverage, at least that´s traditionally the number most Italian teams go by. If Caldara leaves as well (which seems likely) we are down to 4.

      1. reports state Milan want to sign a centre back so we can’t rule out Simic going on loan and caldara being shipped off too

      2. Issue is Simic would get zero playing time and at that age you need playing time. So we would probably have to bring in someone else.

  3. My own suggestion would be for AC Milan to pair Simic with other Center Backs throughout this preseason and evaluate him at the end if he should be loan to a smaller team or cancel the purchase of another Center Half they have in mind and keep Simic for the season.
