One of the suitors for Marcus Rashford has dropped out of the race which could well leave AC Milan alone, according to one journalist.
To catch you up on the latest regarding Rashford, The Athletic stated that Rashford’s agent is in discussions with Milan over a potential move there, with other major sources saying the same.
Both Sky in the UK and in Italy added that the Rossoneri directors have put forward their plans to his brother-agent, making a loan with option to buy bid and telling him that he will have to fight for a starting spot.
According to Patrick Berger of Sky Germany, it is now ‘very unlikely’ that Rashford will move to Dortmund in the January transfer window and it is because of the economic aspect of the situation.
The overall package including the loan fee and the salary that would need to be covered is ‘too expensive’ for the Bundesliga club, and Milan are ‘now pushing’ to bring the Englishman to San Siro.
Dortmund did consider a loan but they are now looking at other options. Rashford is said to not have been coach Nuri Sahin’s preferred solution either.
In our latest Substack Audio Bulletin, we dived into the topic of Rashford joining Milan, taking a look at the three crucial factors the operation depends upon.
I like rashford but he needs to take a big pay cut to join us. If he wants to get to his best and have a smile on his face then we are the best place for him to rediscover himself like Pulisic did. But if he wants to be a premadonna or unwilling to take a big paycut then no point.
what I can say is he is a top player, Manu is a basket case so his form cant be judged on that. Before his contract renewal he scored 30 goals that season so under the right environment where he feels loved and happy he can be a world class player. Conceicao has the ability to help him.
I agree all
This is the most ridiculous story yet. There is no way Milan would come anywhere near paying his salary.
Explain how this makes sense for either side.
The only way Milan would do it would be if United pay most of his salary, and then why would United do it?
Tabloid gossip
I don’t think it’s fake news, Also Fabrizio Romano and Milannews.it confirm all this news. But yes like you said. Its hard to believe we have enough money for this player. If there come some PL teams we are out. Maybe only if he really want to go to AC and is willing to go down with his payment like Pulisic from 8m€ to 4m€ or Alvaro from 9m€ to 5m€. And in this case big power has Ibrahimovic
Cuz they hope he will do good so they can sell him in the summer
For those wondering why Manu is willing to sell its simple. They havent played in UCL for a while, wasted a lot of money in transfer market and have a bloat wage bill. They are now forced to sell and have put Kobi Mainoo, Garnarcho and even Hojland up for sale to reduce their debt. Milan being american owned ie. capitalist vultures can smell blood. They are trying to negotiate a favourable deal. Not long ago Rashford was worth 80-90m. Now a deal can be struck on the cheap i.e. 35m-40m and he will need to take a massive paycut. That’s why we are link and it is credible. Not saying I am onboard but i wouldnt complain if Rashford joins under the right circumstance with the right attitude and motivation he would be a great buy. Look at Pulisic now.
ore anti-American B.S. on here. What a shock. You know it was American capitalist vultures that brought this club its first Scudetto in a decade. Not to mention the trophy we just raised a few days ago.
Rashford is never like Pulisic. Pulisic is a humble , smart player that is always the hardest worker on the team. Rashford is a spoiled, overly sensitive baby. We have enough of those already. No thanks.
OMG, you guys need to get a grip on reality.
Here’s reality:
Rashford had his great season in 2022-2023, when he scored 30 goals + 9 assists in all competitions
That’s when he got his massive new contract – widely reported as £300,000 a week, or £15.6million a year, or €18.7 million at current exchange rates. The contract runs until 2028.
So, to reward ManUre for their high regard for him, the following season, 2023-2024, Rashford scored all of 8 goals+ 5 assists in all comps.
In the current half season, Rashford had 7 goals and 3 assists before ten Hag got fired and Amorim decided Rasford was a lazy piece of stool and left him off the roster completely.
Since the recent partial takeover by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, there have been cut backs galore at ManUre.
Rashford to Milan is one of those transfers that make absolutely no sense.
Rashford is primarily a left wing – Leao’s position. Pulisic also plays there.
Rashford’s salary is 3-4 x more than the highest paid Milan player.
All he has to do to collect that salary is to sit on his butt and not commit a heinous crime that would land him in prison and allow ManUre to terminate his contract. Why would he just give that money up?
All these stories about Rashford are just so much hot air being spewed by his agent.
And STOP COMPARING RASHFORD TO PULISIC
It is simply NOT in Pulisic’s character to slack off after getting a big contract.
Pulisic doesn’t even need a big contract. His Americaness gives him access to commercial endorsement opportunities in the rich American market that are worth far more than what Milan are paying him.
What Pulisic needed was the opportunity to show off his talent, and Milan and Serie A have been perfect for him, unlike the EPL and Chelsea.
As i said I wouldnt mind him but he wouldnt my first pick. Preference a proven Serie A player. Vlahovic or Osihmen but expensive. No italian CF is good enough other than perhaps Scamacca but his got a serious injury and may not be the same after his return. So we need to look for up and coming, who fits the bill? Sesko would be ideal but if conceicao wants a winger who can play up front then Nkunku is another good pick. He can operate anywhere up top but his on big wages too. Would love to see us go for Rodrigo or Vinni Jnr but they are way out of our depth. Only other player who can be signed in summer for free is Sane but his wages are very expensive + injury prone!
Rashford’s gross salary is only twice that of Milan’s highest paid player. If United is willing to pay half, then it’s not impossible for Milan to sign him.
Yeah, people here have serious issues understanding the salaries. Basically 1+1 isn’t 2 for those people as they don’t understand the words “gross” and “net”. You can’t educate them though as we’ve had these discussions approximately 1 000 000 times already and they just don’t get it.
He is on his prime and if Conceicao can get him to his best, we would have the best forwards in Serie A, and probably top 5 in Europe.
If Milan can negotiate a favourable terms, he can be a great purchase, but I’m not sure with what he earns in MU Milan can afford him.
I’m also for Marcus, like you said, he can be same bomb like Pulisic ( so many fans don’t want him because of his pure results and injuries )….now he is best player in team…under Conceicao it can be same with Rashford. But I’m curious how much Man United wants and what’s the numbers of the whole deal … because if we need to pay big loan price for him and then pay him half of his payment (7m€) it’s hard to believe we buy him.. his price is around 50m€ what is too much for us
It’s not as bad an addition as people make it out to be. I believe he can do well with us and I’d like to see how he does with Serie A defences. To be fair, not sure about the finances involved and how that plays out so there’s that. Also, the Athletic reported this morning we might be interested and they’re pretty accurate with their reporting so it more than just smoke.
If Utd cover the majority of his wage, then sure, but otherwise I don’t see how or why… we already have Leao in that position who is better than Rashford, and if even dortmund won’t pay the price, why would our owners? We won’t even pay 30mil for a new signing, now they’re gonna pay 300k a week?
Meanwhile we need a DM and a RB but let’s sign another left winger.
I would say its because we’re selling rafa. Neither this jan or summer. Rashfrord is the mgmt plan b so fans wont be angry
Hahaha always this doom and gloom attitude.. always has to be something negative.
I’m initially skeptical, but considering that the rumour seems quite legit and confirmed by many sources, it seems to appear possible for some reason.
Not sure if he would wanna take the pay cut instead of just slacking it off – afterall, he recently spent more time partying. Even if he did want to take a MASSIVE paycut and join us, would he have the same motivation or just going to be a bad influence to our players?
Another point is his position; he’s most comfortable at the left wing, and we already have our mercurial Leao in that position. Where would he play, really? RW issue is finally solved by Pulisic. Would he play as a lone ST? or as a tandem with Morata/Tammy?
He appears to be a luxury at the moment, not to mention that he has lost all forms too. Not sure if I’d like this punt.
For the last 15 years or so we haven’t priced anyone out, let alone one of the German giants. Even if he reduced his salary more than twice, I still don’t think we’ll be able to pay it.
if he can reduce his wages by half i could take him remember united is known to destroy alot of talents
This “pay cut” talk isn’t how it works in reality.
Rashford knows he will never get a deal like that again unless he moves to Saudi. So wherever he goes he will have to accept something like a 50% pay cut.
But, he has a contract with Man Utd, that the club willingly offered him, until 2028. Wherever he goes in the summer, he is getting a MASSIVE, compensation deal and probably a cut of his fee. If a club offers him 5m a season till June 2028, he would be roughly just as rich on that date as he would be if he spent the next three years “doing an Origi”.
That said, on balance I don’t think he’s worth the risk.
