AC Milan will only have two centre-backs in the squad for the Derby della Madonnina against Inter tomorrow. With the youngsters participating in the Youth League final, and with some players injured, the depth is not ideal.
Matteo Gabbia and Fikayo Tomori will play from start as there are no other options for Stefano Pioli. As reported by Sky Italia earlier today (via MilanNews), Simon Kjaer trained separately at Milanello today and he’s thus not expected to make it back for the game.
In addition to the Dane, Pierre Kalulu is on the sidelines and Malick Thiaw will be serving a suspension. Usually, Pioli would then call up some of the Primavera stars such as Jan-Carlo Simic and Davide Bartesaghi. However, they are unavailable tomorrow.
Milan’s Primavera side, under the guidance of Ignazio Abate, made history on Friday as they became the first Italian team to qualify for the UEFA Youth League final. They will face Olympiacos tomorrow at 18:00 and many Rossoneri fans will surely be watching before the derby.
Seeing as Milan have nothing left to play for in the league, other than spoiling the Scudetto party for Inter, it’s absolutely the right decision to leave the starlets with the Primavera team.
Why can’t or don’t they want to list Caldara, their is everything to play for in the derby..,,
Do we need more than 2? Or are we planning an injury spree again?
2 more because Caldara and Kjaer will be gone in the summer and maybe one of Thiaw and Kalulu will be sold.
For the game i mean. In summer, sure we need at least one.
the period during which he had the primavera player on the bench – without playing them, he deprived abate of his key players. now there is almost nothing but pride to play for, he should let the boys have maximum concentration to play their finals. at least someone in milan jersey might win something this season.
If Tomori and Gabbia will produce the same cooperation they had in Rome, I’ll be forced to turn off the TV after 15 minutes of the game.
Pioli must place one of the MF in the back, otherwise another 5:1 is on its way
