Sky: Predicted Milan XI to face Fiorentina – Morata the only change

AC Milan will take on Fiorentina away from home on Sunday evening and as per the latest reports, Paulo Fonseca will revert to the usual starting XI. Indeed, Alvaro Morata is now in good enough condition to play from start.

Morata was benched against Bayer Leverkusen in favour of Ruben Loftus-Cheek as his condition wasn’t 100% at the time. However, he has improved in the last few days and in addition to this, the aforementioned Englishman will miss the game due to injury.

According to Sky Italia, Morata coming into the side will thus be the only change compared to the mid-week clash against Bayer Leverkusen. The Rossoneri have the opportunity to make it four consecutive wins in the league and it would certainly give them some good vibes for the upcoming break.

Predicted Milan XI (4-4-2): Maignan; Emerson Royal, Gabbia, Tomori, Hernandez; Pulisic, Fofana, Reijnders, Leao; Abraham, Morata.

Fonseca explained during his press conference earlier today that the current ‘squad players’ will get their chance eventually, but at this time continuity is needed. Once Milan have taken more steps forward in terms of how the manager wants them to play, then there will be more rotation.

Given just how poor the start to the season was, one can certainly understand why Fonseca wants to build a proper foundation before making too many changes.

  1. I think Fonseca is doing the right thing, he is building momentum and then it will make rotation easier for players coming into a team playing well and winning, I know it sounds obvious!, but it is what it is..but it will be better for Pavolvic to settle in gradually and not be thrown in there like he was initially

  2. Understand that he wants to keep the same line up but would have been great to see Fofana next to Musah and reijnders as AM. This would give more freedom to Leao who doesn’t like to defend

    1. Yes is also Good but Fonseca needs to allow rejnder to be concentrated only on attacking midfield not double pivot we need rejnder to be playing attacking midfield constantly Fonseca should work on him so that he will be pushing ball to the front looking for goals by all means.

      1. Reinjders at attacking midfield only works if you play a 433 like Holland does. But if you play a 4231 it won’t work.

In a 433 he plays close to the midfielders who create space for him with their movements on and off the ball whereas in a 4231 there’s too much space between him and the other midfielders making it easier to close him down or double team him.

Milan really should be playing 433. Otherwise Musah and Ruben Loftus Cheek will be useless for this Milan team.

In a 442 it works for Reinjders because when we attack our shape is 424 but the wingers and 2 strikers create space for him to move around freely to pass or shoot. That’s because both Morata and Abraham drops deep allowing defenders to follow their runs which opens up space for Reinjders.

We really should lineup Reinjders, Fofana, RLC in the midfield. Smh

  3. He needs to start pairing other strikers to know their chemistry, Alvaro doesn’t look like a player that will play for long without injuries.

  4. Since we want to sell jovic to Juventus let’s use the money to sign an attacking midfielder to play 10 for us in the 4-2-3-1 then bringing carmarda is Good but Fonseca must give carmarda and zeroli a big playing time and carmarda can help us in attacking midfield

    1. People need to stop clamouring for Camarda to play. His body needs to mature before he could hope to have a chance against grown men. He’s already struggling in Serie C and we are to throw him to the wolves in Serie A?
