Sky: Probable Milan XI vs. Sampdoria – Ibrahimovic on the bench; no Paqueta

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is set to start Krzysztof Piatek over Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front against Sampdoria on Monday, a report claims.

Milan will be looking to put memories of the 5-0 thrashing they received against Atalanta in Bergamo firmly in the background in Ibrahimovic’s homecoming game, and you can read our comprehensive match preview here.

According to Sky Italia – as cited by MilanNews.it – Pioli tried what is likely to be his starting XI for the game against Samp in training.

The Rossoneri coach deployed Piatek in attack and not Ibrahimovic, while in midfield the possible ballot between Franck Kessie and Lucas Paquetá was in fact won by Rade Krunic.

Ibrahimovic – even if he starts from the bench – will play anyway: in the second half his physicality could be even more effective.

In defence, Davide Calabria is set to return at right-back over Andrea Conti, with Mateo Musacchio, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez comprising the rest of the back four.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): G.Donnarumma; Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Theo; Krunic, Bennacer, Bonaventura; Suso, Piatek, Calhanoglu.
