Sky: Rangnick in Salzburg making calls ahead of Milan move – interesting anecdote from 2005

By Oliver Fisher -

Ralf Rangnick is currently at his home in Salzburg getting ready to make his move to AC Milan, according to a report from Sky Italia.

We have continuously reported since earlier in the year via Vito Angele that Rangnick will indeed agree a role as manager – that is the double responsibility of head coach and the man in charge of the transfer market.

A number of different sources have since confirmed that the 62-year-old will be joining Milan including Sky (via MilanNews), who report that he is currently at his home in Austria, busy making phone calls in view of his future at Milan.

Peppe Di Stefano then told an anecdote dating back to 2005, when Milan faced Schalke in the Champions League group stages. Ancelotti’s side won 3-2, in the game which saw Gattuso’s famous celebration in the face of Poulsen.

At the end of the game Rangnick went to Galliani and revealed his passion for Sacchi’s Milan and the admiration for how much the Rossoneri won in those years. The former CEO appreciated that confession so much and immediately put Rangnick on the phone to Sacchi.
