Sky: Two Serie A clubs want Milan striker but Pioli has a preseason plan

By Oliver Fisher -

Two clubs have expressed an interest in signing Lorenzo Colombo from AC Milan this summer but Stefano Pioli has a different plan, a report claims.

Colombo has just returned from a season-long loan spell with Lecce which was his first season getting consistent playing time in the top flight, with a return of six goals across all competitions.

Speaking on Sky (via MilanNews), Gianluca Di Marzio gave a brief update on the 21-year-old striker and confirmed that he is attracting the interest of Sassuolo and Genoa.

However, it seems as though Pioli would like to take him on the preseason training camp to observe him and whether he could be a useful member of the rotation in the centre-forward department.

The dilemma Milan face – especially presuming they sign another striker – is whether to keep the Italy U21 as a third choice and risk limiting his development, or whether to send him on loan again knowing they must pick the right club.

  1. What’s Pioli’s preseason plan?

Play a player like Adli all preseason, watch him put in some decent performances, and then not play him?

Preseason is just pointless because clubs are still busy, busy, busy chopping and changing, wheelin’ and dealin’, flippin’ and flippin’ on the transfer market to make those really exciting last minute deals.

    1. Adili not getting playtime because previous management forcing pioli to play CDK instead of adili. CDK get 1450 playing time without impact 0 goal . Now are good time to see adili , because nobody in management forcing him to play CDK anymore ( that previous management has been sacked)

      1. It happens every preseason.

The many of the players that play end up being sold or loaned out before the transfer market closes or a player who has established himself during preseason is crowded out by a new signing that hasn’t had a preseason.

It points to a general lack of footballing consideration with all things related to preseason and the transfer market.

  2. S Pioli is a doom headed coach he know nothing on how to discosver a talented young players. I just know how that if it where not for maldini he would have giveing us notthing, He’s so doom as a coach.
