SM: Leonardo was in Brazil for Everton; the background

By Vito Angele -

AC Milan are serious about Gremio’s Everton. The Rossoneri, not at all frightened by the UEFA investigation linked to the Berlusconi and Yonghong Li management, have clear ideas.

Leonardo’s trip to Brazil

In recent days, there had been talks of a trip to Brazil by Leonardo to try and negotiate a deal for Gremio’s Everton. However, then everything was denied by various media outlets. As learned by SempreMilan.com, though, Leonardo was really in Brazil, but not in the same timeframe.

The Rossoneri’s sporting director travelled to Porto Alegre a while back, where he had the first contacts with Everton’s entourage and family.

The release clause and competition

Everton currently has a release clause of €80m, which isn’t in the player’s best interest. However, Gremio would be willing to let him leave for around €50m. There is a lot of competition with the likes of Man City, PSG and Bayern Munich keeping tabs on the player.

This is why Leonardo, along with Paquetá, have focused on keeping in touch with the family of the talented winger to speed up the negotiations. Everton has discussed a possible future at Milan with the midfielder, as well as former Milan player Pato.
