SM: Tendon damage and flexor issue – the latest on Pobega and Okafor

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have communicated news regarding the condition of four players, including Tommaso Pobega and Noah Okafor who came off during the win over Monza yesterday.

As the club have confirmed to us, Pobega and Okafor underwent tests on their respective injuries. Both players were withdrawn during Sunday’s 3-0 victory against Monza with a hip and thigh problem respectively.

Pobega suffered damage involving the tendon component of the rectus femoris which inserts into the left hip. The lesion will have a new check-up in a week and a specialist evaluation, in order to choose the most appropriate treatment.

Okafor, who left the pitch after feeling a cramp-like sensation in his left thigh, suffered an injury to a deep flexor muscle, the semimembranosus. He will be re-evaluated in a week.

The checks that Marco Sportiello and Marco Pellegrino also underwent confirmed the recovery of both from their calf injury and foot fracture respectively.

  1. It’s a shame Okafor turns out to ne injury prone! He always has bold decisions which brings more danger to our attack.
Hopefully, he’ll work on his muscles

    1. Okafor is not injury prone. Milan fitness staff and medical staff suck. This has nothing to do with the player.

29 injuries already this season and most of them are muscular injuries. That’s a problem with Milan training methods and medical staff.

      1. No, Okafor is an injury prone player. This is something which has been an issue with his previous club. I think that is why he only cost 12 million. I believe most of the players bought in during the transfer market have bad injury records. This doesn’t mean Milan has a good medical staff. I believe training, strength conditioning is to blame. If there is a lot of muscle injuries that is something which can be worked on in training and strength build-up. The medical staff have to build a model to identify before hand when a player is likely to be injured due to the method of play. So all of this works together but mainly training and strength conditioning is not to the level needed for what Pioli is asking from his players.
