Sportiello assures Milan want to defend the fans: “This is a match to win”

Ahead of the big clash between AC Milan and Inter this evening, Marco Sportiello spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the task at hand. In his words, the Rossoneri need to spoil the Nerrazzurri’s Scudetto party.

With a win tonight, Inter would secure their 20th Scudetto and since Milan are the designated home side, this would be far from ideal. Indeed, the Rossoneri will have to give their all to defend the red and back colours at San Siro this evening.

Speaking to DAZN before the game, as cited by MilanNews, Milan’s deputy goalkeeper Sportiello shared his thoughts on the special evening. He made it clear that seeing Inter win the Scudetto tonight would be far from ideal.

A big responsibility for Milan tonight. With what motivation do you enter the game?

“Inter can win the Scudetto tonight and doing it in front of our fans would not be ideal. Regardless of this, it is a derby and this is a match to win. We are ready to make this match ours.”

Stefano Pioli has made some unexpected changes to the starting eleven tonight, with Rafael Leao starting as a No.9 and Yunus Musah at RW. It remains to be seen what the outcome will be, but this seems like a gamble.
