Sportitalia: Milan expected to meet Udinese directors over Samardzic

By Oliver Fisher -

Udinese directors are currently in Milano to discuss the possible sale of Lazar Samardzic, with AC Milan among the three interested sides.

According to the latest from Sportitalia reporter Michele Criscitiello, Udinese had a meeting today at the Atalanta headquarters regarding centre-back Rodrigo Becao, which remains a complicated operation for La Dea.

Then they made the short journey down to Milano for some meetings regarding Samardzic, who is in demand this summer. The directors will meet with Milan, Napoli and Inter as per the source.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Inter have a deal in place with Sassuolo to sign Davide Frattesi and therefore this could rule them out of the race for Samardzic given the expense needed to sign both.

For Milan, the Serbia international could be ideal because he can play both as a playmaker behind the centre-forward or as a box-to-box midfielder in the event Stefano Pioli switches to a 4-3-3 as reports suggest he could.

  1. I would have preferred Frattesi. Weird how this is being reported. Only Di Marzio has said anything. And he’s often wrong.

  2. They leave the best of the lot for a second fiddle. Now, Inter has Frattesi and Barella in the midfield. Milan management should think about how they want the team to be next season, and go for quality players to fill those positions, not jumping here and there.
